PORTRAIT WORK for
@tushmagazine of make-up Artist
@dausell
This is a full-on admiration post for a woman I deeply respect and admire on every possible level. ♥️
Marie Dausell
@dausell is a makeup artist, an artist in every sense, an empath, and a true gift to every set she graces with her presence. Always professional, always kind — even in the most chaotic moments — she becomes the calm center, the anchor everyone can hold on to and know: Hey, it’s going to be okay.
Thank you for letting me shoot your portrait for the anniversary issue of
@tushmagazine and your interview.
We were right in the middle of a production, and it was one of those classic: “Ariel, can you just quickly…?” moments — something I usually dread. Especially when I want to do justice to the person in front of my lens.
Because, truthfully, there’s no such thing as just taking a picture.
Maybe in commercial work, though even there I have my doubts.
But in portrait photography, the magic happens when both the photographer and the subject feel safe and seen.
And yet, perhaps this was one of those rare “exception proves the rule” moments — we had no time, no real energy to give — and still, we created something truly special.
To me, it’s one of the most beautiful portraits I’ve made in a long time.
Thank you for being you.
Your (not-so-secret) admirer, part-time MOUSELL-keteer, and friend.
And happy birthday Tush Magazine. You never looked better, in 20 years. ♥️♥️♥️
