There is a hill @trammew and @datbevents will proudly die on: Double elimination is the best format in the game. Always has been, always will be, which is why the @hermosabeachvbopen will again be a true double elimination — no Olympic crossover, a double final if one is necessary.
Pure, back to the roots beach volleyball 😍
We’ll always have the lifestyle 🤩 for the second year in a row (and one of four guaranteed years that @datbevents will be running the @hermosabeachvbopen alongside @wedbushsecurities and @hermosabeachcity ) the Hermosa Open will feature a truly open, 32 team field with a double elimination format, big prize money, and yes, the player parties at @tower12hb to salve some early losses or celebrate some big wins 😜
Full episode with Mark chatting all things Hermosa, where the sport’s been and where it’s headed, is up!

Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful wife. Thank you for all that you do for our unique beautiful family.
Thank you for letting me think that I am the boss but we all know who leads and guides us.
Love you Aurora Pa’aluhi
When Hermosa Beach was left off of the AVP schedule this year, Mark Paaluhi, like many locals in the South Bay, was discouraged. But he didn’t just take to social media to air out his frustrations; he did something about it, working with the city to put on a $200,000 event that was streamed on VBTV.
Fifteen-thousand of those dollars came out of his own pocket.
How successful was the event? Paaluhi signed a three-year deal with Hermosa to continue putting on the event.
And he is the SANDCAST Man of the Year.

Honored to receive the endorsement of Mark Paaluhi, former professional beach volleyball player and the force behind creating beach volleyball courts and producing tournaments nationwide, including this year’s Hermosa Beach Open!
Mark has also generously volunteered his time to assist in new hire interviews for our police department. His dedication to both our community and the sport is inspiring.
Grateful for his support as we work together to keep Hermosa Beach thriving!
