Tara Kaushik did a fantastic write-up on "The Milkman" for MIA's editorial page. I put the link in my bio so you can click it! "Domestic Dread: A Closer Look at Nik Nerburn's "The Milkman". The exhibit is (still) open until June 21st at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

This Sunday, join MAEP artist Nik Nerburn (@datanodata ) for a talk with Andy Sturdevant, a writer, artist, and designer. The pair will discuss the intersection of place, history, and family in the context of Nerburn’s film The Milkman. Sunday, May 3 at 2 pm. Free tickets at the link in our bio. Through bewitching stop motion animation and dense, campy soundscapes, “The Milkman” shows a family keeping secrets from each other in strange and startling ways. Drawing from both enduring American mythologies and personal family lore, Nerburn uses the disarming whimsy of puppetry and dollhouses to reveal a domestic life coming undone. See the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program exhibition “Nik Nerburn: The Milkman” at Mia through June 21.

Check out the new MAEP exhibition. Through bewitching stop motion animation and dense, campy soundscapes, Nik Nerburn’s “The Milkman” shows a family keeping secrets from each other in strange and startling ways. Drawing from both enduring American mythologies and personal family lore, Nerburn (@datanodata ) uses the disarming whimsy of puppetry and dollhouses to reveal a domestic life coming undone. Nerburn’s cross-disciplinary projects reflect his passion for people’s histories and places that are “off the map.” He’s a 2024–2025 Minneapolis College of Art and Design–Jerome Foundation Fellow and has received support from the Minnesota State Arts Board, ArtPlace America, and Springboard for the Arts. See it for free through June 21st. Support for the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program is provided by RBC Wealth Management.

“The Good Chair”, 8’x4’. Photo by Rik Sferra. This big chair is based on dads who always insist on sitting in a specific chair. It’s designed to hang on the side of my garage. It’s probably the biggest piece of yard art, or any art for that matter, that I’ve made.
