"i've never been a religious person, in fact, I'd probably categorize myself as an Atheist or at least agnostic but I've always been fascinated with the music that is created by very religious people. From about 2000-2005 I grew up going to a Presbyterian Church that was about 100 yards from the Atlantic Ocean in a town called Satellite Beach on the East Coast of Florida. The house band at that church was made up of a bunch of dudes that likely moonlit as members of Steely Dan and Doobie Brothers cover bands but every Sunday they would come together and play some of the smoothest yacht rock infused worship songs I've ever heard. Fast-forward 10 years or so, I came across a bunch of these Christian rock albums from the late 70s and early 80's at thrift stores and Goodwills around my hometown in Florida that had a very similar sound and aesthetic to this church band I grew up hearing. I was immediately hooked on sourcing these types of records and have since grown my collection of these funk, R&B and soul infused worship albums to at least 25 album.Unfortunately these records don't really get much playtime other than for my own personal enjoyment because religion can be such as touchy subject, but today on Datafruits.FM I'm very excited to showcase these records and all of their blissful quirks."
