Last year, I had the privilege of being selected to join @foundersforum as Founder of @datafactoryglobal - a highly curated network where access isn’t just about applying, but about building something meaningful enough to be recognised among a small group of global founders, operators, and investors.
Today, I attended the @govtechsummit at Central Hall Westminster, London and it was a powerful reminder of how critical the intersection between technology, policy, and execution has become.
From conversations on how deep tech is reshaping government delivery, to discussions on freeports, local economies, and the role of the state in enabling innovation — the agenda was tightly packed, but even more valuable were the conversations in between.
What stood out most:
- The growing urgency for governments to adopt data-driven, AI-enabled decision-making
- The openness (and in some cases, readiness) of public sector leaders to collaborate with founders
- The clear opportunity for startups to play a central role in shaping future public infrastructure
More importantly, it was incredibly engaging connecting with fellow founders and government representatives who are not just talking about change — but actively building and enabling it.
A lot of promising conversations came out of today, and I’m genuinely excited about what’s ahead. There’s real momentum building at the intersection of gov, data, and innovation — and I’m looking forward to playing a part in it.

When Climate Moves the Needle on Health
With over 15 years of experience in the health sector, I’ve seen firsthand how data saves lives — when it’s available, understood, and acted upon. But lately, I’ve noticed something concerning in many conversations across Africa: when the topic of climate change comes up, people often say “it doesn’t really affect us.”
The truth? It already does. Profoundly.
- In 2019, air pollution contributed to nearly 198,000 premature deaths in Nigeria — more than malaria that same year.
- Floods are increasing outbreaks of diarrhoea disease and malnutrition.
- Rising temperatures are linked to more hospital admissions, cardiovascular strain, and heat-related deaths.
Climate change isn’t a distant threat; it’s a public health emergency unfolding around us. The intersection between climate and health is where Africa’s biggest challenges — and opportunities — now lie.

One truth about data: it never lies.
One fact about data: without context, it can be meaningless.
This balance between truth and interpretation was front of mind during my recent visit to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) as part of the G20 Summit activities. Standing on the trading floor, it struck me how every market movement is powered by data — numbers that in themselves are neutral, but become powerful when analyzed, contextualized, and acted upon.
Whether in capital markets or in everyday business decisions, the challenge in most environments isn’t access to data, but knowing how to transform it into insight and strategy.
For me, the JSE visit was a reminder that data is both the foundation and the future of innovation, growth, and trust in our global economy.
