My name is Dash Salt-Reimer. I'm a spoken word poet and hip hop artist based out of Treaty 6 in Saskatoon. If I'm not rolling out samples, rhymes or soliloquies as a solo artist, you can find me running poetry slams as the co-director of the non-profit @circle.made , serving comfort food and music with my partner at @thepancakehouseshow , or rocking heavy at basement shows with the punk outfit @unrelatedmusic

I'm here for anything community-driven, grass roots and rooted in mutuality. So get me a comfy sweater, a lukewarm drink and a tiny local event put on by some weird art-kids like me. Let's make a home out of the arts on these prairies.

Last weekend I had the privilege of receiving the Zaccheus Jackson Nyce Memorial Award alongside the brilliant @nea.reid at the National Verses Poetry Festival.

My interactions with Zaccheus while he was still with us were brief but the way that he affected me and the poetry community that raised me have continued to bring life into the world around me. I'm honored to keep doing the work that I do and carry a small piece of his legacy on in it.

A huge thank you to @johnnydtrinh and the @vancouverpoetryhouse for doing the tireless work of putting on the festival and taking time to celebrate the work we all do. Thank you so much to @khodidill for the nomination and belief in me that I have benefited so much from over this last decade.

The show will start with an Open Mic hosted by Write Out Loud. So bring your fresh new pieces, your favorite poems, your first drafts, even another poet's poetry, and share your words!

After the Open Mic we'll have an Underground Poetry Slam hosted by Circle Made Artist Society. The slam is a tournament style, head to head competition judged by audience applause. A place where the points don't matter but sharing our best poetry is the point. Each competing poet will need 3 original poems, all under 3 minutes each (you don't have to have the poem memorized. Prizes for every competing poets!

Non-poet audience members are more than welcome! Come through just to soak in some poetry.
