This newly fledged barred owlet swiftly climbed to safety after an awkward fall to the ground. Every year, owlets go through this rite of passage before they can fly proficiently. It’s Nature’s somewhat harsh way to test their survival instinct soon after their first journey out of the nest. I was amazed by how tenacious this little guy was: Wings, talons, beak, were all put to good use and it succeeded!
I intentionally withheld the posting until all owlets have successfully fledged and moved on.
