Had the good fortune to catch the legendary @bushtetras at Mosswood Meltdown this year, a set I’d been looking forward to for some time. Really cool to get to see such a celebrated band finally, aided by one of the all time GOAT drummers in @steveshelley .
Any time I post photos of a Sonic Youth member I’m obligated to remind everyone that the first time I saw them I was 12 damn years old! Lollapalooza 95! Cypress Hill also played and they had a giant inflatable Buddha on stage with a weed leaf on its tummy and I didn’t get the reference.

Finally getting around to posting photos from Mosswood Meltdown, and I’m starting at the end. @clickbaitchicago was an awesome band to see at the post-event afterparty. I’ve seen a lot of Bay Area bands, and during Clickbait’s set I kept wondering how I’d never seen them around Oakland before. Then the drummer mentioned midway through their set that they’re from Chicago but always get confused for an Oakland band. Makes sense! Great band, hope to see them in the Bay again soon.

Spent the weekend in Burney Falls and—aside from some critical bud time—also got to see a Golden Eagle. I cannot overstate how big this bird was. Wingspan had to be somewhere in the 6-7 foot range. I was pretty stoked to get this one!

Heyyyyyy I’ve been pretty busy the past few months starting a new job and moving but I finally published this video essay I finished a few months ago on my YouTube channel. I’m a big fan of Nathaniel Dorsky’s work and am also troubled by the loss of artistic spaces/organizations in recent years, so it feels relevant.
If you’ve never read Dorsky’s book Devotional Cinema I could not recommend it more highly. There’s a link to buy it from SF Cinematheque in the video description.
Yellow-rumped Warbler! This is another one from birding in Oaxaca, and I was honestly pretty shocked to get such a nice photo. Songbirds are twitchy and rarely sit still, but this little bird landed in front of me and just chilled for like 30 seconds, which I feel never happens. I’ve also attached my previous best Yellow-rumped Warbler photo from two years ago when I first started birding, because I’ve wanted a better shot for years and this is how long it’s taken! Birding requires a lot of patience 🧘🏻♂️ I think I have a real thing for yellow birds.
