Your curls not lasting? Babe… it’s probably not the curling iron. 👀
Most curls don’t “fall” because your hair can’t hold them. They fall because the prep (or aftercare) is working against you. If your curls drop in 20 minutes, here are 3 very common reasons why:
1. Your hair is too fresh (aka too soft).
Freshly washed, overly conditioned hair is soft, silky… and usually too slippery to hold a curl.
✨ Fix it:
Use a light mousse, texture spray, or heat-safe setting spray before curling to give the hair some hold and memory.
2. You’re touching the curls too soon.
This is the big one. Curling your hair and immediately running your fingers through it is the fastest way to undo all your work. The curl needs time to cool and set into shape.
✨ Fix it:
Let each curl cool completely before brushing, combing, or fluffing.
No fingers. No drama. Let it set first.
3. Your heat is either too low… or way too high.
Too low = the curl never sets.
Too high = you fry the cuticle, the hair gets limp, and the curl drops anyway.
✨ Fix it:
Use the right temp for your hair type:
– Fine hair: lower heat
– Thick/coarse hair: medium to higher heat
And always use heat protectant. Always.
Bonus tip?
If you want curls that actually last, stop curling big random chunks and expecting magic. Smaller sections = better shape, better hold, longer wear.
