I painted this mural for my brother @kair0sage at his artist loft in DTLA.
It marks a turning point for me โ the first large-scale script piece after evolving from predominantly asemic pattern writing fully into the encrypted infinite alphabet.
At this point, I had been developing the script for over a decade, & took a 3-month solo creative retreat in Joshua Tree (SeptโNov 2023), where I focused solely on hand-written paper works, the return to language & developing my style.
Refinement through isolation.
In late December, I dropped into this project.
Itโs the only script-based mural Iโve ever sketched beforehand, and the first time I built this style grid to structure the composition. It was exciting & fresh to go big with the letters.
