Based in East London, Leonie Freeman moves between personal and commercial work with a clear point of view. Her interest in subculture and identity runs through everything she shoots, giving the work a strong sense of character.
What stands out is how deliberate each image feels. The framing is sharp, the details are thought through, and nothing feels overworked. There’s a quiet confidence in the way she builds a scene. It feels natural but never casual. The result is work you don’t move past quickly.

Our fashionably late March pick is @shanstewart_ 🥵
Currently based in London, Shan Stewart moved from corporate tax into photography after a career change that feels reflected in his work. Born in South Africa and raised in Australia, his background informs a direct, stripped-back approach to image making.
We’re drawn to how he uses light. It feels staged but never forced, with portraits that hold attitude without losing control. There’s a strong sense of mood running though his work, but it never slips into overstatement.

@darklight__world has played a big part in my career for a long time, with a great community, fascinating insights and photography at the centre, I really can’t recommend this to photographers enough.
It’s such a wonderful melting pot of encouragement and shared knowledge, and I’ve made some really great connections through the platform. The photography career can feel isolating at times, so being part of something so warm and welcoming is of beautiful comfort.
This video touches on the ups and downs of my own career and how a road trip around Europe relit the fire I have for making photographs. On the Darklight platform I wrote an article about this process and covered it in detail in a Huddle I hosted, kicking off a great time of vulnerability and sharing during the call. All of which was recorded and ready to be viewed on Darklight Pro.

Moscow-based photographer and designer, Natasha Yankelevich creates staged worlds and uncovers real-life stories that often go unseen.
Her personal project YAMAL FACES explores the Nenets, a nomadic reindeer-herding community in the remote Yamal Peninsula, showing lives shaped by land, weather and long traditions.
Her work is influenced by folklore, ethnography, fashion and identity, revisiting distinct social groups and charismatic personalities.
