Goodbye Tarquin, you were such a great cat.
Thanks for always greeting everyone who came to the door, sleeping in my nook, being a business cat or just bunting my face constantly or laying upon me. The house is too quiet now.
We will miss you very much. Xxx

My mom, Peggy, died on Jan 14 in the Nederlands by MAID after two years of living with Lewy Body Dementia. She was very brave.
She still knew me and loved me. I had every intention to tell her all the things I so loved about her, but her disease was robbing her of herself. Her funeral, despite her wishes, happened in the Nederlands, all in Dutch and I was not asked to speak. So instead, I will share these memories of her with you.
If you knew my mom, she was kind, beautiful, and fun. She was the best mom and so engaged and dedicated in allowing me and my sister to pursue our passions from soccer games to guitar lessons. Helping out on field trips, encouraging our reading with visits to the library, pizza on Fridays and so many Happy Meals.
She loved to travel and was obsessed with collecting Air Miles. She would read the entire newspaper, she loved when the crocuses came up. She liked Coronation Street and Mexican food and made a mean pavlova. She always knew when I had to pee. She made the best Halloween costumes, always sang a melody (even though she was tone deaf) as a little hold music when trying to take her wallet out to pay. She talked fast, and talked a lot with her friends, many who she made through Jazzercise.
She drove standard and others often commented on her racer like driving. She gave great hugs and always had a gift for you when she was back from a trip or visiting. She loved to dance and her favourite band was The Guess Who.
Red shoes. Cute as a Button nail polish. The smell of her chocolate chip cookies or cooked salmon in the morning from when she did the Atkins diet.
There were so many moments of joy with her, little and big. But there were also very hard times like when she moved to the Nederlands in 2010.
She wanted to come back to Calgary and I am so sad I can't bring her home. But she is free now. Free of her disease. Free from her abusive relationship.
I love you mum, goede reis naar huis.
Me unable to stop what's coming next week, but damn that was a fun party at @dickensyyc and I think I kissed 8 people in this photo.
