Number one reredos award goes to St Thomas Church 🏆 This church is breathtaking. The reredos was designed by Bertram Goodhue and Lee Lawrie. It is 80ft tall and features more than 60 stone figures. I hadn’t heard of the church when I first visited, so I was blown away by the intricacy of the wood and stone work. Please stop in if you’re in the area! It’s just around the corner from St Patrick’s.

I wanted to share some of my favorite Tiffany Studios stained glass windows because today is Louis Comfort Tiffany’s birthday! I’ve visited a lot of churches, museums, and buildings with his studio’s work. I’m blown away every time by how vibrant the colors are in person and the massive scale of some of these windows.

Basilique Sainte Clotilde in Paris was constructed between 1846 and 1856 in the gothic revival style. The original design was by Franz Christian Gau, and is the first example of gothic revival architecture in Paris. When Gau died in 1853, work on the church was continued by Theodore Ballu.

I didn’t think I’d be going to this many shows and enjoying it as much as I do, so I have a lot more event content than churches. As a result, I’ve been less inspired to share architecture history which is the main goal of this account. Separating these subjects will allow me more time to write about churches on this account, and be able to post more frequent concert photos on the other one. I felt pressure to get architecture content out to split up the posts, but it takes a lot more time to make those.
I think I’ll change the name of this account at some point, but I don’t know what it will be!

Another post of the beautiful St Michael’s. Many of the decorations of this church were designed by Tiffany Studios. Some are featured in this post including the altar, pulpit, and the columns in the chapel. I’ve made two posts before about the seven gorgeous Tiffany lancet windows at this church, some of my favorite windows I’ve ever seen!
