10 years of learning.
Not a single thing done with it.
YouTube. Mentors. Seminars. Events.
Getting fired up only to go home and realize I still had nothing to sell.
I knew all the steps.
I had no direction to walk towards.
I’d help friends and family here and there, watched some make their first money from their passion, others go on to become known, riding trends I had studied for years.
While I stayed in the shadows. Watching. Waiting for my time.
Three years ago I finally started doing more than just giving advice.
I tested what I’d learned. Saw some things work.
But what I really discovered was that learning and doing are two completely different worlds.
After a year of testing I took another break.
Doing things in secret, behind other people’s brands. It didn’t feel right.
Then I moved to New York six months ago.
A chance to reintroduce myself.
I didn’t want to just be another creator. I wanted to tell stories. Through a camera. In the most organic and raw way possible.
Inspired by DRock working alongside Gary Vee, I wanted to become a version of that for founders in spaces I actually care about.
That’s part of what I’m building here in NYC.
It’s hard. I’m learning every day. I made it so this is my only option.
But I’m happy and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
the story continues…
the worst part about a hard pilates class is when you can’t even hear the instructor. luckily, i didn’t have to worry about that! 🎙️
hosting a class in the middle of central park meant we would have noise from all directions and a heck of a commute, so when i reached out to @adam_hall_group & LD Systems about their ANNY 10” portable loudspeaker, they completely understood what i was up against and how important the “portable” nature of the system would be. & yes, the speaker does fit through the subway turnstile!
huge thank you to Adam Hall Group & LD Systems for securing this product for my central park mat pilates event & checking in at each point to make sure i was set to go! 🎬
MAGGIE SALOMONSKY PILATES in CENTRAL PARK 🗽
tuesday evening i hosted my first community mat class of my debut pilates series! i planned this event as an opportunity to share a slice of my work with the community. to everyone who joined - thank you for taking a chance and showing up for yourself! i hope you left feeling better than you came 🧚🏻
i couldn’t have hosted this event to the extent i did without my team coming together behind the scenes. our partnerships shared excitement with me from the jump for what open mat pilates can mean:
@adam_hall_group / @ld_systems_official was top of mind when i thought about the sound quality of the event. we hosted it outdoor, there was noise from other groups in the park, the wind blowing through, and the sheer amount of space we took up as a group meant with just me leading- i needed everyone to hear my voice clearly, vibe to the music, and tune out all the distractions surrounding us. 💆♀️ the Adam Hall team was on board from the start to bring that extra level of sound quality to pilates.
@bloomsupps was our nutrition partner. bloom started as a husband/wife duo to bring women’s supplements to the heavily-dominated male sport nutrition market. you can find bloom in many bodegas around NYC, which is how I initially learned about them 🤭 Bloom was another no-brainer when asked to join me and it was extra special to share their Energy Sticks to everyone after class.
@figur4media with @darientbe was behind all of the media. from the moment i drafted this idea i knew i wanted it to grow, and that starts with strategy and visuals! darien worked with me at every point, discussing the layout, methods of transportation, maintaining our shot list, and recording all of the moments that mattered. i always say “every picture you take it a bonus” but man is it nice to have a ton of them 🥹 … enjoy these pictures from darien, and stay tuned for our reel drops!
today is mothers day
So of course I had to call the momma and hear her sweet voice.
we only spoke for a short time but it was the warm voice I needed to hear cause lately my moods been in the dumps.
I asked how things were, and she said she was almost done with work. Maybe another year or two.
I asked “whats next”
Then she said - “what do you mean, I’m coming to live with you”
I laughed cause I live in a studio in nyc building a marketing agency.
I said “mom, I don’t have space”
She said “not yet but you have 2 years to become famous”
We laughed, we said our I love yous and we got off the phone.
I went about the day normally editing videos, talking to Maggie.
And then in a random moment, I thought about what that famous comment really meant.
It was the belief only a mother could have in her son.
The belief that my mom had instilled in me every day growing up.
That i could do anything. And I should pursue things that make me happy.
A belief that has never let me settle in the best ways.
A pure unconditional belief.
I hear you, momma.
I love you, momma.
I won’t stop.
Not here, not ever.
Happy mothers day 💛
If @thespeedproject only taught me one thing it’s that instead of putting energy into proving those that doubt you wrong, put your energy into proving those that believe in you right.
340 miles. LA to Vegas. 60 mph winds, a wildfire, mountain passes, wild dogs, valley floors, a few wrong turns, and one very long road that kept going. Complete.
None of this happens without the people who made it real.
@norahsimm & @annetteleephotography — you captained this thing with everything you had. Good captions made hard things feel possible.
@_b_allen & @jwesco_ — crew is a thankless job until you need them. And we needed you from the start.
@darientbe & @om3jia — We’ll have this forever because of you. You made the journey a masterpiece.
@rmal__1@mrmenaatef & @mcjoey_herrera — there’s no version of this where I finish without you three next to me. Full stop.
Alas, it was better next year.
@thespeedproject was more than just a race - it was outrunning wild dogs, moving through wildfires, running on no sleep, and finding a family in the midst of all the chaos.
There was a version of me that would’ve called this impossible, but THIS version went out and fucking did it.
A week later, and it still doesn’t feel real that @thecolorsshow ran over 340 miles from LA to Las Vegas through some of the harshest conditions out there. I’m forever grateful for this team for trusting me, pushing me, and being the reason I made it through every mile ❤️
