We won a frigging BRITISH BOOK AWARD!! 🤩
To say I’m proud of what we’ve done with this little book would be a MASSIVE understatement 🥹
Thank you so much to all of you the readers, especially amongst the Black diaspora, this wouldn’t even be a thing without you and the way you’ve embraced this book. 🥰
Thank you to my amazing editor @joermarriott who trusted me to do this without hesitation, to our phenomenal designer @monicawhelan92 who stepped up to the mammoth task of working with 18 artists on one book 😮💨 and thank you to the star that is @cparkinsonpr for EVERYTHING you do.
And last but by no means least THANK YOU to the 18 incredibly talented illustrators who came together to bring this book to life. You truly deserve this win and all the great things coming your way in your careers. 🥰
Before I post my gratitude for how overwhelmingly awesome my book launch was last night 😮💨
I wanna share this perfect pic of me and my Nan on the platform, waiting for her train home. 🥹
I snuck away from the launch festivities to walk her to the train station and we had the platform to ourselves as we sat and talked. 😊
Unbeknownst to me, my friend was on the platform across and she took this pic, capturing the moment beautifully just before she got on her own train. 🥹
Yesterday was the first book launch of mines my Nan has been able to attend, it also marks 10yrs since she attended my first solo show in Brixton. I can’t sum up what it means to be able to live out my dreams with her still around, I think she got a little overwhelmed (in the best way) with all the love from yous lot yesterday, so thanks for that. 😅
This wonderful woman truly is the love of my entire life 🥹 and I’m grateful for every key moment I’ve been able to share with her. 🥰

Rocket loves Fridays…why? …because she goes to the library with her mum and brother to borrow new books for the week. When she finds out her local library is closing down, she starts speaking up about libraries and how brilliant they are. Can she save her library before it’s too late?

This book is so powerful in expressing how anyone can make a difference if they speak loud enough and believe. Rocket is inspirational to all children in finding their own voice.
🌟 The illustrations echo its themes beautifully whilst also promoting the wonderful of reading as libraries bring communities together.

Another year without me being able to make it to Bologna 🥲
but this time, at least a little part of me was able to make it to the book fair. 😌

She’ll be making her Bologna debut this year before her 2027 picture book debut! 🤩

I spent yesterday in Newcastle at the magical @7stories , celebrating the launch of the fantastic @dollyparton ’s @imaginationlibrary 2026 book selection.
I got to meet some amazing people and hang out with the legend that is @nick.sharratt , as we celebrated the charity’s incredible milestone of seven million books sent out to children across the uk, in collaboration with @puffinbooksuk .
I myself have been lucky to have four of my books be part of their collection, and I’m grateful for the work they do when it comes to getting our books into the hands of readers who wouldn’t normally have easy access to them.
The range of books they distribute is so wide and diverse and does a fantastic job of reflecting the people in the world we live in. Check them out and show them some love.
Today is the birthday of my absolute favourite human being on this planet! 🥰
A constant ray of light in my life. 🥹 I’m proper lucky to have grown up with her around, and to have been able to share my milestones on this journey with her.
