SAVE THE DATE! The third annual RR beer festival and the Tom Hooper Trophy competition. The beer festival is fairly self explaining (the Rolls Royce of beer festivals). The Tom Hooper Trophy is a competition where we invite anybody to enter anything that they have made by hand. We have had quiches, model aeroplanes, knitted jumpers, sculptures, sausages, songs, bike ramps. ANYTHING. There will be a bespoke trophy for the winner and runner up prizes. We are thinking of having a children’s section to encourage more youth entries too. In memory of Tom, he was a keen craftsman.
Here we go for a couple of nights. Leek pizza this time with some lovely fennel salami. There’s a beautiful Lemon curd cake served with whipped cream. ‘Diggers Gold a hoppy golden ale on the hand pull. We are CLOSED on SATURDAY AND SUNDAY this week. Apologies for any inconvenience. Call if you’d like to book a table or order a take away. The pizza doesn’t eat itself.
Here’s the menu for the weekend!! We have created a bit of a pizza , sweet potatoes purple and orange, ragstone goats cheese made very locally @neals_yard_creamery . Fresh Coriander bought direct from local organic grower and pickled red onions. Check out my new balance ball for improving core strength
Here is the menu. It’s a spinach and nduja (a spicey spreadable pork sausage from the Calabria region of Italy). Lettice has made a beautiful looking Lemon tart and some Stracciatella ice cream. That’s what we’ll be serving for the next four nights.
WE ARE CLOSED AGAIN TOMORROW! Sunday the 12th of April. Thanks for everyone who’s come through this year. It’s been busy, we’ve all worked hard. We’ll be back open next Thursday 15th. Here is a photo taken by dad Graham ‘Daffney’ Davies. He did a bit with the local youth club in Knighton and this was of the youths waiting at Bowling Green Lane Bus Stop at around 1980. They were heading to the Malvern Winter Gardens to watch The Stiff Little Fingers. ❤️
We are back open tonight from 5pm. We won’t be winning any in house points for originality with this weeks special but more roasted Leeks with Prosciutto and wild garlic shouldn’t ruffle too many feathers. To brighten up the end of your meal Lettice has made lovely ice creams and Rhubarb and ginger crumble cake!! We are closed again this Sunday for an unmissable event.
A van brimming with the finest stone milled flour (and sacks of sifted bran to give to my mates pigs) from the other side of the country in Llanrhystud 🏴. Driving around and doing these little deals and meeting people, maybe getting invited in for a cup of tea or whatever and maybe handing over a couple of bottles of cider is one of my favourite parts of the jobs I do. I love it. The cider business is the same. Business that involves a lot of friendship and trust. That aside, I feel like the pizza I was making with this flour in the run up to the Christmas just gone is the best Pizza dough I’ve made so far. So looking forward to mixing a bit up tomorrow.
Oh my god we have potato pizza with crispy pancetta and wild garlic. The usual salad currently a mix of French organic lettuce and Italian pink radicchio (more local salad ready very soon). If the treacle chocolate ice cream wasn’t enough Lettice has made CHOCOLATE MOUSSE with WHIPPED CREAM. There’s Mid Wales finest @montysbrewery SUNSHINE pale ale on the handpull. We have the purest Cider and Perry made from local fruit. Get on the old dog and book a table or take away NOW!
