“Don't forget that you are part of a lineage. You are not inventing anything. You are building on something, right? You're building on an important foundation. But that's a good thing to recognize, because whatever you build has to be as strong, has to be as significant, has to be as wonderful? So that the next generation can build on top of what you build. So as long as you understand that, you are part of a lineage, you know, not the beginning and definitely not the end.
And that's the one piece of advice, because I think it's very, very easy to be seduced or consumed by the sense of doing it for yourself. And I think that that's the loneliest way to journey in this world as a writer, is to be alone.
