Life has a funny way of rewarding patience, doesn’t it? Sometimes you can see exactly what you want, it’s right there in front of you, but the timing just isn’t right.
When I left Ohio to move to Colorado without
@janelllllleeee , we weren’t sure what would happen. All I knew was that she was the only person I knew whom I could easily be myself around, and that she loved me deeply for it. But, at the same time, I was at a point where I needed to focus on continuing to work on that person she loved, and that just wasn’t happening in Ohio.
After I left, I made a few prints of some of my favorite memories with her. It was, as I saw it, a recap of the first years together. When I look at them now, it’s pretty clear that everything we needed for a lifetime together was in those 11 pictures. And now, after ten years and countless more pictures, memories, highs and lows, goofy “what-if”s and serious life-changing decisions, Janelle and I are engaged and taking the next step in what has already proven to be a silly, loving, adventurous and intensely demanding relationship full of the kind of growth that can only come from a true desire to better ourselves in order to continuously improve and celebrate life with the one we love.
I know I’m a better person today because of her and that our patience has definitely been rewarded.
