Ten years ago, our community came together in the wake of a tragic loss to create something positive. We were inspired by the memory of Danny and thanks to your overwhelming support, we turned our grief into a mission: to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction and offer a message of hope.
Since that incredible start, we’ve connected with so many of you at over 20 events, shared our message at local high schools and colleges, and even created a documentary to share Danny’s story and our mission. None of this would be possible without your unwavering support.
As a small token of our immense gratitude, we’re hosting a family-friendly Give Back BBQ! This is our chance to thank you in person. We’ll have food, drinks, games, and all the day’s NFL games on TV for you to enjoy. We’ll even have squares for the Eagles vs. Rams game—a special tribute to Danny’s and Mike’s friendly rivalry.

10 Years ago, he turned 25.
10 Years ago was the last time that we sang Happy Birthday.
10 Years ago was the last time I posted an Instagram shoutout that wasn’t a tribute to his memory. This is the picture that I used.
I think this is the first time in a while that I truly understand the reality of how long he’s been gone. Time moves so much faster now than it did back then.
There will be people who see tributes like this written about Dan today who haven’t thought about him in a while. There’s been times that I’ll even forget what life was like when he was here with us. We’ve done our best to keep his memory alive, but it gets harder with time and more responsibilities that life throws our way.
The saddest thing about today is thinking of what his 35th birthday would look like if he was here. There would be a huge party this weekend with family, friends, and playoff football on the TV. He would probably have Sienna and Penelope on his lap while we all sing Happy Birthday. I can’t even put into words how much that sucks to think about.
If you happen to stumble upon this caption today, just know how lucky you are to be alive and surrounded by people who love you. We are living proof that the ones you miss the most are the ones who didn’t feel worthy of the love that they had.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve had moments in the last ten years where it feels like the world is playing some sort of sick joke on you. It’s so easy to let those moments take you to a dark place. Like you’re trapped at the bottom of a well with no way out.
Make a promise to yourself to find a way out of that well. Scratch and claw with everything you have. Call a friend to help you out. Coming back up to the surface will be worth it every single time. There’s so much more good for you to experience. And if you think there’s someone you love who’s at the bottom right now, don’t wait for them to find you.
Incredibly honored to have such a great turnout yesterday! We are lucky to have made a $5,000 donation to @beyondthebadgeny to help with their efforts of removing the stigma around mental health with first responders. Please continue to tag us in any photos you took yesterday and thank you to all of our supporters for giving us the opportunity to make a difference!
