it all felt like a fever dream. yesterday was the most amazing day of my life. I am so grateful for the outpouring of love and support. It was an honour to run the sydney marathon for @beyondblueofficial , supporting mental health awareness in australia.
I trained so hard for this, but nothing could have prepared me for the emotions of the day. as I ran and ran, it deemed on me that no amount of running could bring back the ones we have lost. no matter how far I ran, I would never see my cousin win a championship. I’d never get to see my friend walk down the aisle.
and that’s the truth of it. the only thing we can do is be strong for those in need. to shed some light, to speak about things, to eradicate stigma. and do better for those struggling to speak up. hold each other a little tighter.
thanks to you, I raised $4,505 for beyond blue. and with all your love - I did it! I ran my first ever marathon in 3 hours & 46 minutes. and I felt two angels holding me up for every kilometre of the way 🕊️🤍
I am still processing the big, beautiful whirlwind of a weekend that was @sydneymardigras . When I started this club a year ago, there was a missing puzzle piece in my life — the queer community. I didn’t feel like I was part of it, or know my place within it.
As I marched up Oxford Street with our crew, listening to the crowd roar and the fireworks crackle in the sky — watching the confetti dance its way to the ground, the grins on everyone’s faces, the colours brightening the city — it dawned on me that my puzzle finally felt complete.
This was a lot of hard work. But we really did THAT. We pulled it off together.
We marched for the love of joy.
For the freedom to be ourselves.
For those who have been unable to — yet.
Sole Sisters really is just a name. It’s the people who make it a family. How lucky are we to have friends we adore to spend our Saturday mornings with?
So if you’ve been thinking about it, come along. Say hello to someone new. You never know what it might do for you.
I’ll continue to be your CEO and running President, for as long as you’ll have me 💼
all my love,
Dan x
