1&2. Everyone got a trophy, but this was the best costume in my book. She handmade a stuffed rat that is a dead ringer for one of the rats in the movie.

Still basking in the glow of an incredible weekend in Michigan. Big shout out to all my friends who came to my show @iffypsi . So many old friends came down and I am so grateful. I got my start making films in Michigan and so many of the folks in the room helped get me started. 40 years later and I’m still doing the things that I love, and so many of the folks I saw this weekend helped me down the path. Also, I didn’t actually take many photos, so there are too many people not pictured! Thanks to @tokoshiiki , IFFY photographer, who took so many of these awesome shots.

I am excited to present an evening of my short films at the Independent Film Festival of Ypsilanti. @iffypsi on Saturday, April 18, 7 pm.
It should be a wild night. Films screening include: Skate Witches, Dumbass From Dundas, Death Sled II: Steel Belted Romeos, Elevator To Stardom, I, Socky, Swingers’ Serenade, Tour Tips, Out of Print and Pillow Talk. All of the films have been recently scanned into a 4K universe, so all the grain, and all the scratches, and all the imperfections can now be witnessed in a much higher resolution!
As a special bonus, there will be a full Skate Witches reunion. #skatewitches The whole cast will be in the room together for the first time in almost 40 years. I can’t wait to be in that lineup!

BONUS iFFY ANNOUNCEMENT! Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of 'Skate Witches' -- the legendary short film by iFFY visiting filmmaker Danny Plotnick-- with a rager rock show afterparty at our favorite downtown Ypsi venue, ZIGGY'S!
That's right, that bite-sized punk comedy classic, shot by Plotnick on the UM Diag in 1986, is hitting the big 4-0! At 7 PM on Saturday, 4/18 at Riverside Arts Center, iFFY will be screening the film as part of a Danny Plotnick retrospective, SUPER 8 & DESTROY: THE FILMS OF DANNY PLOTNICK.
After movie time, make your way down the street to watch TRUE DEVIL (featuring Skate Witches cast member/Lucky Monkey Tattoo co-owner Dana Forrester!) and ELECTRIC HULDRA melt the walls with heavy rock action!
We'll also be hosting a SKATE WITCHES costume contest! Rumor has it Dana will even be bringing a replica of her original hand painted Skate Witches jacket; the original can't make it because it's in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian (wait, what?! No, FOR REAL!).
Doors at 9:30 pm. $5-10 sliding scale for folks just attending the show, no cover if you show your ticket stub for SUPER 8 & DESTROY at the door. Bring your best Skate Witch finery, ear protection, and a rock & roll fist to pump.
The tea hath been spilt: last night at our movie night takeover at @ziggysypsi , we made our first official programming announcement for Season 7!
Now it can be told: we're bringing in @dannyplotnick on Saturday, April 18 for a retrospective of his work entitled SUPER 8 AND DESTROY: THE FILMS OF DANNY PLOTNICK. The centerpiece of this program will be a 40th anniversary screening of the 1986 UM Diag-shot classic short SKATE WITCHES, with at least some of the original Skate Witches in attendance! We couldn't be more excited.

BREAKING NEWS ALERT!
The leather jacket from my 1986 film Skate Witches is heading to the @smithsonian National Museum of American History as part of their permanent collection. It will be part of their Sport Collection that focuses on skateboarding. I believe there are also plans underway for a traveling show which will include the jacket! Never in a million years did I think a Super 8 film I made in college would have such a fantastic journey.

for buying the jacket and hanging onto it for all these years, and Jenny P for her willingness to knock people off their skateboards. Also, high fives to the rats - Maggie, Mr. Ig Wig, and the one whose name I cannot remember.
Danny Plotnicks’s photograph, Mt. Shasta, highlights an example of soaked photography. The roll of Kodak Portra 400 film was soaked in water from the Fall River, tequila, Squirt, Aperol, and juniper berries. We’ve been lucky to have Danny, a master in alt-process, lead a few Saturday classes in the process of “film soup” which mentees had a blast experimenting with.
