This was one of the first vale tudo gym challenge fights that I saw on video. It was filmed 2002 in Spain and features a BJJ fighter called Fabricio Pereira taking on a challenger named Christobal who believed his karate style would beat BJJ….
You can see he immediately lunges in with a punch, leaving him open to an easy takedown. Then resorts to body punches which have little effect, even trying to rake the eyes before getting his arm nearly broken.
A harsh lesson but one he could have easily avoided by watching UFC 1 back in 1993 😂
