Five years ago today, at the height of COVID lockdowns and a period of uncertainty and unrest for just about everyone around the globe, @seizedupsc unleashed their relentless debut LP, appropriately titled BRACE YOURSELF, onto the world! The album proved to be a blistering introduction to this Santa Cruz hardcore all-star crew, bringing together members of BL'AST, Fast Asleep, Good Riddance, The Distillers, and The Nerve Agents. Never content to rest on laurels despite the impressive pedigree, Seized Up immediately set about forging their own path and carving their own niche in the scene. In the ensuing years, the band have toured and played with an impressive roster of bands, as well as putting out a follow-up LP, Modify the Sacred, in 2024! Our adventures in LA took us to Pasadena, where just a few blocks from our motel, Alex and Eddie grew up. We found the holy grail of rock n roll sidewalk graffiti just around the corner from their childhood home. Etched in front of Eric’s Clocks at 500 Allen St.

We lost our sweet Rooster this week. It has been hard to process that this beautiful boy won’t physically be in our lives anymore after 13 years. Who will lick clean the cottage cheese container? Who will go to the park with me on Saturdays and chase the low flying swallows? Who is going to lick the tears from my eyes? My heart is broken. I hope you are ripping cardboard tubes where there are lots of redwoods and a creek. RIP Rooster Tide Lamont Van Munster Half-Head Buzzard. I will miss you forever and ever, buddy…
