Carlos in The Magic School Bus: Lost In The Solar System all over the country!
I remember seeing the show when I was little and seeing Carlos on TV and hearing his jokes and thinking “this guy is totally me!” And now I get to be him for so many kids the end of this year. This one is dedicated to my little bro, Nathan, at home.

HOLA Awards 2024
So very proud to be a part of this team of artists that brought Las Borinqueñas to off-Broadway. The gift that keeps giving!
We celebrated all of our nominations and our win at the HOLA awards (Outstanding Achievement in Theatrical Design), and it was such a wonderful time to see familiar faces and meet new ones (Priscilla Lopez, César Millán, Eden Espinosa and the wonderful Liza Colón-Zayas were all being honored!). What a joy to celebrate and uplift Hispanic voices!
And what made it even more special is that it was my first awards show and gala, and it was with my @latinxplaywrightscircle family. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The fit was inspired by 1940’s Puerto Rico and the flower I’m wearing pays homage to Las Borinqueñas who endured the first birth control pill mass trial and who will never be forgotten.

How beautiful to be a construction of such glorious cultures,
to be a blending of the north and south,
to learn the vocabulary and the intricacies of each tongue,

to understand the connection that bridges me with so many others.

The Chemistry of Salt
They say it takes one to know one. Nothing is more accurate than when 23-year-old Carlos reads Salvador Novo’s The Pillar of Salt for the first time in 1998 when it was first published. As we learn more about Carlos’ adventure to Mexico City, the way his life parallels Novos enlightens his present moment surrounded by the AIDS crisis and propels him to look for hope. In this coming-of-age story, through the exploration of the life of this Mexican queer pioneer and contrasting it with a man living in the now, we learn what it takes to move forward with our identities and what it means to live truly as yourself. 🇲🇽📖🖋️🎧🕶️🛼
