Strength training for an ultramarathon šŸ‘‡ I always warm up with 5-10 minutes to get blood flowing (walked my dog) Then do prep movements (not shown) Then follow up with ā¬‡ļø Plyometrics (superset) Single Leg Skater Box Jump Single Leg Pogo Hops - Main Strength Lift (BB Back Squat) - Single Leg strength (Box Step Up) Superset w/ Bent Knee ISO Calf Raise - Single Leg RDL Superset w/ Weighted Hanging Knee Raise - Overhead DB March Superset w/ Pull Ups The goal is to train to perform. Not trying to do anything that will cause excessive fatigue. Okay maybe I over did it with the pull ups. 🤫 don’t tell coach. Currently 16 weeks out from 200+ mile adventure run through the Appalachian Mountains to raise money for @missioncleanh2o to help families have access to reliable clean water sources. Link in bio for more info to donate, volunteer, or pace/crew #strengthtraining #strengthforrunners #ultrarunners #ultrarunning

On August 28th I’m running 200+ miles southbound on the Appalachian Trail through Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. My goal is to raise $5,000 for @missioncleanh2o Awasi Expansion effort in Uganda. Every donation helps bring reliable clean water closer to families who still face long walks, unsafe sources, and daily barriers caused by water insecurity. My miles are chosen to help those who are forced to trek many miles just to get clean water. I welcome any and all support. If you want to help out in anyway go to the link in my bio where you can donate and sign up to volunteer, crew, or pace me in certain sections. My goal is to connect with as many people on this journey, push through a hard effort, and get those families access to clean water closer to their home so they have more time to build there future. #ultrarunner #tristate200 #ultrarunning #cleanwater

Training to run 200 miles in the mountains.. Right now the goal is to build the foundation + speed. That means a lot hill and threshold work for the next few weeks. Today’s workout consisted of hill repeats at hard effort followed by mile repeats with a massive hill in it. Brutal workout tbh haha. In ultras there are a lot of unknowns. But one thing I know is I will go into this next adventure in the best shape of my life 😤 Tri-State 200 official date announcement coming soonšŸ‘€ #ultrarunner #ultrarunning #training #explore

Running hills will make you a better runner. It’s as simple as that. If you’ve been running for a while and still avoid them, you’re holding yourself back. The climb forces better mechanics, stronger push off, better posture, more power through your glutes, calves, and hamstrings. It’s really@hard to fake good form going up hill. The downhill matters just as much. It builds quad strength, control, and stability while teaching your body how to handle impact efficiently. And if your race has hills you don’t get to skip this. Hills aren’t optional if you actually want to improve. Find a steep hill and try this 1-2x per week 6-10 x 30-60 running steady up hill then a controlled jog down hill for recovery. Once you get to the bottom turn around and do it again. #running #ultrarunner #runningmotivation #ultrarunning #hillwork

Strength training while training for an ultra may look different and it honestly should. This is a simple template for full body strength days when your volume and time on feet are going up. The goal isn’t to crush yourself in the gym. You can still lift relatively heavy but the focus is on supporting your running not draining your system before your next session. Keep it simple. Keep it effective. This not about aesthetics at all, it’s all about performance and durability. Think about what actually needs to hold up over the course of your race and train accordingly. Use this as a guide and swap in movements that best fit you, your body, and your training #ultrarunner #ultrarunning #strengthtraining

Always great get some miles with this beast @francismarshall1 šŸ§‘ā€šŸš’ At this point it’s no coincidence when Fran wins a @ufc fight that I always end up having a good race shortly after. He won the week before I won my backyard and then he just won again this past weekend as I’m entering a new training block. Which only means I’m about to cook something up. 14 miles with some good climbing this morning The trails are my home for the summer šŸ”„ #ultrarunners #ultrarunninglife #trailrun
