This is a serious one, which is weird, almost all of you know me for my comedy. What a lot of you don’t know is the path here. Today, I am 30 years old. Seven years ago, I was a 354-pound 23-year old who had almost had his life ended by a drunk driver. It was the moment that led to a change, but it wasn’t a single moment, it was a million, compounded, finally leading to change.
Why do I post this? Because so many are struggling. They think it’s over. They don’t have what it takes. But I was 354 pounds. I told my family to stop doing interventions because I was ready to give my life over to food. Luckily, my switch flipped. And if life is kind enough to flip your switch, even through pain, you must take it and run with it.
I did that literally. You can do it as you see fit. I’ve run 14 ultra marathons, I have big plans for future athletic endeavors. The main thing though, I’ve been beaten down even more. Running put me in the hospital, gave me broken bones, legit injuries, but you need to keep the switch flipped. Every hand, some you even know, will try and dull your light. They will try and hit the switch for you. Don’t let them. On the other side of almost a decade of suffering, pain, but pushing myself to areas I never thought possible, I can assure you, every step was worth it. If even just one of you takes that step today after seeing this, my job is done.

A whirlwind few days. My first TV taping in a few years, for Comics Unleashed on CBS. A Netflix recording for their SiriusXM channel. Dozens and dozens of miles run with thousands and thousands of feet climbed. And I’m only a few days in. Still have a headline show at the Hollywood improv, opening for Patton Oswalt next week, and headlining a make-a-wish benefit show at the laugh factory. I love LA!
Life lately: Bigger biceps, new tattoos, bigger calves, running, getting beat by a fast Amish man with a single suspender…enjoying every weird step along the way. Please come see me on the road!

Sometimes the cliches are true.
Sometimes the hard times lead to the best times.
I am not perfect. But, I am just stubborn enough to chase my version of perfection. I think we get lost in the voices of critics, the voices that don’t understand the path we’ve chosen to walk down. And, often, we switch our path to align with theirs. Let me tell you this, stay your path. Walk your walk. Run your run. If, in your heart, you know your North Star is an admirable one, keep running towards it. Take each misstep as a sign, not to quit, but as a sign that this is the right path. Sometimes the right path is littered with boulders, roots, rocks, you’ll trip, you’ll bleed, but when you get where you wanted to go, holy shit does it feel great. And, the people waiting for you, the new friends you make, it is more worth it than ever before. Because they too kept their path, they know the price you paid, they paid it too. Keep running, I’ll be waiting for you at that finish line to pat you on the back and push you even further.

I have months full of tour dates, races, living in the mountains of Colorado, running 100 miles in the Rockies, and everything else that comes with this life.
Next up is Los Angeles, where I’ll be doing a few shows for the Netflix is a Joke festival including an audio recording for their SiriusXM channel, as well as a TV taping for comics unleashed on CBS. Then I’ll be headlining the improv May 11th. Life is everything you make it to be; run far, tell jokes, get tattoos, who cares, it’s your life to live. Go live it, but also come see me perform, I do need you there!

Half Marathon PR baby!
One week after my first ultra of the season, I just threw down a 1:25 half marathon at the @eugenemarathon ! Started strong, legs were heavy, and just kept hammering. Took 16 minutes off of my fastest prior time. Been such a fun week, spending time with my friend @alexipappas who gave me so much confidence in my ability to do this. I’d say more, but I am properly tired and taking way too long to post this from a port-a-potty.
