When writing the story and creating the look of the film, we wanted to make something that not only felt real and grounded but like something you’d want to return to, like a classic novel or film that you watch once a year because of the way it makes you feel and what it reminds you of. Three weeks into production that hasn’t changed, and what we’re capturing with this talented team is truly incredible.

For Bernadette, unwanted fame followed after her revelation of Our Lady’s message. In obedience, she agreed to be photographed, but when asked to act out the ecstasy of seeing ‘the Lady,’ she replied that she was unable to do so.

I have spent a lot of the day reflecting on the past year- the year Dan and I both turned 40. 😜 A year filled with many blessings! But this past year was special in a unique way, Dan’s newest project is also very personal to me and I was excited to jump in and help to make this dream a reality.
My devotion to Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette began a long time ago when my Grandmommie, Bernadette, would share about her love for them. 2025 was not only the 100th anniversary of St. Bernadette’s beatification, but it would have been Grandmommie’s 100th birthday. Grandmommie went to an all girls school run by the Visitation Sisters and there was a Lourdes grotto on the property- I love the picture of her with her friends in front of Our Lady.
I was able to go to Lourdes while in college and volunteer at the baths. It was an incredible experience- helping women from all over the world who were seeking healing- physical and spiritual. It was hard and emotional- it deepened my faith in a beautiful way. Later that year my family was able to take Grandmommie to Lourdes. What a gift it was to experience that with her.
This year Dan and I have really learned about who St. Bernadette really was. I loved listening to him tell stories as he researched and wrote the script. It’s also been a time of trust and surrender as we take this leap with our family- and it will continue to be so as we prepare for Dan to go to France to make the film! 🙏❤️
