Size does matter 😉, that’s why here I present “View of mind” the biggest piece I have ever painted on the occasion of my show “Mindscape from the chair” at @labibireus.country Always important to add challenges in painting 🧑🏻‍🎨. “View of mind” 200 x 500 cm Oil on linen. Beautiful fragment of @johnslyce ‘s text for the show. “Colour and form are here wed, like sound and sense. Gesture and sign coexist in a particular balance that results from a fusion of inert materials, extended reflection, and then formative energy. These works open themselves up to a viewer who ideally abandons oneself to a free play of reactions the work promotes. These moments may move on to the free play of associations such aesthetic information offers in a truly open work. Painting can be hard work for a maker, but it must be fun. All this takes time-making time, but all the more important is the time one takes to look and consider the next move as one chases a moving target with the wet and slippery stuff of paint.”

Very happy to announce that I will be taking part in “MAKE IT MAKE SENSE” at @room57gallery in New York , opening May 12th!🗽 “MAKE IT MAKE SENSE”: In a world where so little seems to make sense, we turn to art for joy, perspective, knowledge, and connection. This exhibition features works by Callum Eaton, Daniel Roibal, Marco Paul Lorenzetti, and Olivier Souffrant. Four artists with distinct, signature style, yet very different from one another. These differences should be celebrated. They are what create beauty in the world, and that beauty can be seen throughout this exhibition. While each artist’s work may not appear directly related, to me, they perfectly complement one another. “Siempre serás mi puesta de sol favorita” 130 x 190 cm Oil on linen. 2026

A visit to the London studio of Daniel Roibal For Roibal, painting begins with process rather than outcome. What draws him in is the openness of abstraction—the freedom to move without fixed meaning, allowing each work to unfold gradually on its own terms. He resists labels and rigid frameworks, instead searching for a kind of visual resolution that remains intentionally unsettled. His approach is cyclical: he paints, steps back, looks, and returns. The work develops through this rhythm rather than toward a final point. As he admits, his paintings are never fully finished—they retain the same sense of openness that first brought him to the canvas. That openness is anchored in memory. Growing up in Mallorca, he was immersed in the warm tones of architecture, the deep blues of the sea, and the saturated greens of the landscape. These elements don’t appear directly, but linger as atmosphere—subtle, persistent, and felt. His paintings often begin as an attempt to hold onto a moment—a fleeting feeling or memory—before gradually shifting into abstraction, where experience and material begin to merge. #contemporary #londonart #artisttowatch #artofinstagram
