thanks so much to you both for thinkin’ of me and for letting me do my thing! Means the absolute most to go into any job with this much trust and appreciation for my work. also slowly finding my love for color work 👀👀

From Emily ~~~ “Those who criticize our moment say the ocean has made us anxious, sea sick. They say contemporary images have become homogeneous and photographic movements, fleeting.
But I want to propose a shift in perspective.
What if we are not looking out at an endless ocean at all. What if, when it comes to photography in 2024 we are in a large bowl of soup.
Pictures bring us comfort, warmth, and nutrition. We come to photography because we are hungry and scrolling satiates. In this soup we find, not waves of sameness, but distinct chunks of art and meaning. It’s a veritable medley of flavors, each piece individual but connected through time and place. The beans touch the chicken. The portraits inform the landscapes. We are not choking on seawater at all. We are slurping soup.”
And I’ll leave ya with that, now go eat some soup 🍜
