Need some yin with all this yang happening on IG. Just a few thoughts from an encounter with an “antizionist” this week. The movement excuses terrorism, promotes hate and puts Jews in danger all under the guise of social justice. Don’t be fooled by joining up with such vitriolic hateful people. Peace is possible and inevitable, but not with these kinds of “thought leaders” steering the ship. 👍 antisemitism, Jew hatred… call it what you want but it is plentiful in the mouths and minds of these dullards. Am Yisrael Chai and have a great day. 😘

Wild little run culminating last night at @lebanonoperahouse . It was an honor to be there in tribute to the man, Bob Weir, and to do it with this family & this community made it that much more special. Thank you to @deadsetzn and everyone involved with this wonderful production, in honor of an extraordinary spirit. 🙏💪❤️ see y’all further on up the road…

Saturday night I’m trying something a little different, and I’d really love to see some familiar and unfamiliar faces there. We’re doing a pop-up, word-of-mouth style show above the Falls General Store in Northfield, Vermont. It’s a small, intimate room with beautiful sound, a kind of sacred feel to it, and one of those settings that just makes you listen a little closer. These are the kinds of spaces that made me fall in love with music in the first place. The night will be two sets. The first set will be songs you know and love. The second set is wide open. No rules, no expectations. We might land on some songs, we might wander a bit. That’s part of the fun. This is very much about supporting local spaces, small towns showing up for art, and seeing if something like this could grow into a little ongoing series. If you’re in Northfield or one of the surrounding towns and ever thought “I wish more stuff like this happened around here,” this is one of those moments. It’s a $20 cover. The room is cozy and intimate, so I’d encourage you to make a plan rather than wait it out. Doors open at 7:00 and music starts at 7:30. Everyone who comes will also get a print of the poster and a download link with a mixed recording of the show to keep. If you’re on the fence, bring a friend. Especially someone who doesn’t usually go to shows, or who might appreciate a quieter, more intentional night of music. If you’re coming, drop a comment. If you like the idea, share this around. And if it feels right, come be part of the beginning of something. Saturday night. Above the Falls General Store in Northfield, Vermont. 💛

In all seriousness this was a terror attack on students in Toronto, and had one of these terrorists been armed with more than drill bits, could have ended much worse for these students (both the protestors and the Jews at the event). This was after the cops did basically nothing, the terrorists broke glass and smashed open doors and made JD bleed and sent Jewish students running to hide. That being said, this is the most satisfying 40 seconds of JD absolutely taking out the trash. 🫡 freaking gever.

That is me in the back left, on my 2nd of 4 volunteer trips to Israel last year. After 10/7 (and the world’s reaction to it), I along with so many other Jews were in a dark place. Reading articles, scrolling endlessly… helplessly WATCHING. About one month after the attacks, my cousin Aliza notified me that there were organized volunteer trips going to Israel under the auspices of TAGLIT, MASA, and others. I couldn’t imagine heading into a war zone just weeks after the deadliest attack on Jews since the holocaust. The future was uncertain in Israel at that time and a fierce war was already being fought on seven fronts. Missiles were a common occurrence and running to the bomb shelter was protocol. I made the decision to go, and I was on the ground in Israel by early December 2023. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and something that has informed my outlook on Israel and the entire world since then. It was not my first time in Israel, but it felt like it. Things were different. It was war time, but there was a sense of unity in the air that cannot be described by anyone that was not in Israel during the last two years. By the end of 2024 I had been to Israel four times on four separate volunteer trips. I met amazing people who would become my family. My brothers and sisters, working together to heal the land and the people we love and cherish so much (in our small way). Without Israel, my family wouldn’t be here today. But that’s a story for another time… Here is me wearing a hairnet, happily doing my volunteer service - pitting dates - with some of the best people in the world. There are a hundred stories to tell from my time there but this great pic just popped up from my good friend @judenac ! Amazing memory. Tonight - I am holding my breath in anticipation for the final hostages to be reunited with their families. May we see a brighter future, a stronger Israel and a united people, leading with love and understanding and Hashem’s blessings in the years to come… AMEN Full circle of story: I am heading back to Israel in just a few weeks to celebrate my cousin’s Aliza’s wedding! 🥳🧡The people of Israel live!
