Throwback to last weekend’s bush adventures.
It was beautiful, but we also witnessed something that you’ll only get to see once in your lifetime… if that. As we were driving along a boundary road at @ingwelala_private_reserve we witnessed a lion grabbing a buffalo calf. A large buffalo bull had absolutely no time for this and went for the lion, flinging it into a tree and eliminating any chance the lion would ever have to even think about committing any crimes against buffalo-kind ever again. It was as dramatic as that.
The calf, injured and struggling, stood up, and walked in circles for a while. The lion scampered off. I’m that person who is hoping all animals survived and lived happily after, but we won’t know.
And here are some other memories we could capture with cameras. The above mentioned memory happened too quick for focus pulls and ISO settings.
1. Bush-obsessed husband. He drove the game viewer most of the time. So did I and it’s not an easy drive, but definitely a fun one.
2. Lions. They mated in front of us, but I didn’t have time to get their consent to post that moment.
3. The beautiful, wild in-laws.
4. Very fancy giraffe vibes.
5. Very fancy reflection vibes.
6. This elephant was more aggressive than it looks here, but still cute.
7. Spotty, the hyena. The photograph was taken from my spot on the patio. Spotty almost came home with us. He likes lamb chops and rusks.
8. Africa. Very similar to Johannesburg.
9. Photogenic tree.
10. Sunsets to die for.
11. Husbands to live for.
12. Seeds and angel leaves.
13. Man make fire. Hyena spy on man for lamb chops… and rusks.
