So happy that I can finally release this ❤️ Watch the full video on Youtube - I promise it's 17 minutes of emotional rollercoaster, deep talk, and encouragement, especially for my creative friends. This is my gift to you 🤍
I used to grow up reading about other people in SinChew (kind of an og newspaper in 2000s Ipoh I guess) and it's kinda surreal seeing my face and my work so publicly out there. When people from your hometown recognize you, that's when you've passed the point of no return. You've done it now. You're the small town girl turned into a newspaper feature. There's still a long way to go in my story folks, so don't turn off the connection just yet 🌸
W dad for making it in the paper too (he's in the pic on the left)

The world could have been beautiful. Our children playing in fields could have been our reality. My heart goes out to all the people and children who are still fighting for their basic necessities, and I'm sorry I can't do much more than paint a beautiful fantasy for us to escape in.
I always see parallels in how artists work and what humanity needs - and it's plain as day to me that artists who are a little crazy, a little broke, a little passionate will end up being the blueprint of how society should work. Art is always on the side of humanity, and the people who respect the arts are the ones who truly understand why we live.

Giving myself permission to make art that makes me happy 🩵🩷 The world is bleak, but I guess that's why we hold on to art even harder because where else would we find pretty things anymore?

Update: this has found a home 🤍
I only speak facts 💅🏻 These are the top reasons I hear people giving when they tell me I'm so lucky to be an artist and they can't, because they just have soooo much on their plate. Well, the truth may be shocking to you: artists face the same struggles - and you know what they did? They said "fxck it" and Did It Anyway.

If you've been on the fence about taking your passions more seriously, this is your sign. Figure it out, and Do It Before The World Ends.
I find myself growing calmer and more at peace the more I paint these. It feels like I've finally found my purpose in my art; to bring a soft kind of peace to anyone who views it. With a healthy realistic perspective on the things happening in our world. Yes, the world is crumbling. Yes, gentleness can exist anyway.
This painting saw me through an entire year of growth. Completing it feels like the end - of the first chapter of a new story. Preparing this post made me a little emotional as well because, just one year ago I was such a different artist compared to who I am now. I'm thankful to everyone I've met on this journey, and I hope to see us all grow. That's all for now. Come to my studio to see it.

Never in my teenage years did I think that I'd be doing what I do now, that I'd be having these dreams and goals that once felt so far away. And it's only the beginning, because I'm planning to stick around for a long time - so y'all better get used to seeing my face ✨️

Artists are called fools for diving into their passions, and honestly, there is truth to it. People who choose to work in stable jobs will never understand why creatives choose their careers - but it is precisely because creatives no longer want to be in corporate worlds that they turn to their passion-filled life. The grim reality, however, is that we live in a world that caters to people with stable jobs, and being an artist means living without the benefits of a 9-5. So, if you are an aspiring artist reading this, you were informed. Dive safely.
