I've been a fan of @jillbarber for many years, so when @barbralica set up a writing session for the three of us I was incredibly excited. Jill is an incredible musician, but I was thrilled to find out she is also warm, encouraging, and inspiring as a person. I feel honoured and blessed to have co-written her new song "Box of Wishes" - a tune all about taking chances and pursuing the dreams you've tucked away. I can't imagine a better time of year for this song to come out - as we take stock of 2025, and look forward to to 2026. Years later, a little voice memo i had on my phone was turned into a fully realized gorgeous song with him, @barbralica and @bmoralesmusic ! Life is wild. @barbralica sometimes sends me voice memos of brilliant song ideas and lets me get my grubby fingers on them - this beauty of a tune about unrequited love and pining was like catnip to me. Always an honour to cowrite with Barbra and I think you should give this tune a listen and then maybe make a montage video of darcy/Elizabeth gilbert/Anne etc and then send it to me because i love a romantic montage okay?

Oh my goodness @sammyjacksonmusic just released her new album, which already makes this a VERY GOOD DAY. But it also means I get to hear Home Sweet Home, a song we wrote together alongside the formidable @barbralica AND WEEP. SAMMY YOU ARE STUNNING. Honestly, songwriting is a funny thing because we probably wrote this in a 3 hour session 2 years ago and I have not heard it since, so I got to listen with fresh ears and it made me cry. Go check out this whole album from this amazing, @thejunoawards winning artist, and then let me know if Home Sweet Home broke you as it broke me. Congratulations Sammy and co. on an amazing record!

I loved working with @geracette on Same Old Me - it felt really special and magical while we were writing it. So glad that @canadianfolkmusicawards thought so too! Congrats for the nomination Geneviève, you deserve all the success and I can't wait to see where this new album takes you (hopefully to Alberta...)

@rachel_colman_music just put out her debut full-length album yesterday and I am SO proud to have been a part of it. Rachel writes about everything with so much humanity, honesty, and sincerity, it takes my breath away. She is so eloquent in the way she writes about the beauty of God, faith, community, while still making space for the reality of sorrow, disappointment, and frustration. I'm in awe of the way this record encapsulates all the colours of experience, and I'm so excited that it is out in the world. Congratulations Rachel, and thank you for creating such beautiful music.

It's always a beautiful day when @geracette releases new music, but it's especially wonderful when she puts out a full-length album. I was honoured to collaborate with her for a bunch of these tracks - songs about loss in many forms, about self-love, about the power of friendships, and about having the midas touch of turning sorrow into something Golden. I loved being a part of her process, and I think you will love what she is so lovingly releasing into the music landscape today. If you wanna have a good cry, give this fantastic artist a listen. One of the most magical things about co-writing is when a songwriter lets you into their thoughts and its like they've read your own mind in the process. When @geracette showed me her idea for this song I was desperate to be a part of it not only because it was beautiful, but because it resonated so deeply with me. This song is about growth and self-love and acceptance. It speaks of how it feels to fall short despite our best intentions. For me - I keep thinking there will come a time when I feel like I'm "finished" - like I'm the smartest, kindest, boldest, most polished version of myself. I definitely thought I'd be a lot closer to that person by now. I love that this gorgeous song by this phenomenal artist is in the world, because I knew when we were writing it that it was vulnerable and special and important - that Gen had captured a feeling that would connect with lots of people (including me). Same Old Me is out on all the platforms today, go give this wonderful talented human some more streams. ❤❤ And thanks @geracette for trusting me to collaborate with you on such a wonderful song. So pleased to receive the news that @barbralica won the CMRRA Song of the Year award @folkmusicontario for Ghost of Me, a song we co-wrote!!! I love writing with Barbra - she is an incredible artist, vocalist, lyricist... it goes on and on. I always love to look back at voice memos to see the journey of a song, and it blows my mind that we started writing this a lifetime ago in 2019. In these four years Barbra has championed this track, recording this STUNNING version (as well as a haunting live performance which you should go watch.) I'm ecstatic to see Barbra's hard work, perseverance, and talent be celebrated, acknowledged, and rewarded. Go show her some love by streaming this award-winning song! Congrats Barbra!

My beautiful, talented, and SUPREMELY hardworking buddy @geracette dropped her new album today and it is stunning. The perfect record to listen to while you write mediocre poems or shed one glistening tear while taking the bus on a rainy day. Geneviève is an incredible writer I'm honoured to say I got to co-write a couple songs on this (bonus marks if you can spot which ones), as did the wonderful @barbralica - so you KNOW there's a lot of emotions jam packed into these songs. Add the voice of @cityandcolour_official , and you may as well curl up in a ball and drink some tea, because feelings are gonna FLOW. In all seriousness, I'm so incredibly proud of Geneviève, and honoured to count her as a dear friend. Go give a listen - you won't be disappointed.
