With our partner @daniellebarich , Advisor in AI & Hospitality transformation and ex-Director of Digital Innovation at Hennessy, we analyzed 16,295 hospitality videos to share real data on how consumers discover hotels in the AI era.
2.83B views in the dataset.
1.24B of those views are AI-invisible.
Hotel moments that trended on TikTok and Instagram, racked up millions of views, and never showed up in a single LLM response.
The reason is boring. 84.2% of brand mentions live in spoken audio. The creator says “I’m at the Aman in Tokyo.” Nobody types it in the caption. AI reads captions, not audio.
So when someone asks Perplexity “best hotels in Kyoto,” the brand with 128M views loses to the brand with 28M views, because @belmond scores 4.1/6 on AI legibility and Four Seasons scores 2.8.
The metric you optimized for in 2024 (views) is decoupling from the metric that will matter in 2027 (AI citations).
You can be the most viral hotel brand on the planet and still be the answer no AI ever gives.
The hospitality brands waking up to this now will own the next decade.

Today is my fifth birthday celebrated on this side of the world. Today I just wanted a collection of little joys. Wandering Paris, reading in the gardens, buying a coffee from my favourite place, walks with Banane, reading at my favourite cafe and then dinner tonight with a dear friend tonight.
Things aren’t what I expected at 35, but today I’m reminded how many times the younger 20 something or teen me dreamt of living the life I do now. Celebrating a birthday living in France.
So today I’m really grateful for the simple things. My health, my amazing family, my incredible friends here and far around the world, my sweet dog, and for myself, 5 years ago, who took the chance on myself and made today possible. She’d be so happy with how things turned out.

Train trips with my best girl.
We’ve been doing a lot of back and forth together from the olive farm we call home right now, to our friends homes in Paris.
Meeting with clients in AI and hospitality and then back south meeting with architects, lawyers and investors.
I would say 2025 until now has been a constant state of transition. It’s been exciting, challenging, sometimes defeating, other times inspiring.
Looking forward to a few weeks in Paris, then back to the ☀️
