We are incredibly proud of our team 🧡
HAIR DIRECTION FOR @alixhiggins@kevin.murphy.australia@sharkbeautyau .
The hair inspiration draws from the iconic Gibson Girl, created by illustrator Charles Dana Gibson (1867–1944). There is a sense that something is slightly “off” or interrupted within the beauty, creating tension between polish and imperfection, while still holding a romantic undertone.
The traditional Gibson bouffant is deconstructed into a contemporary, directional interpretation with a subtle punk sensibility. Hair becomes less about historical recreation and more about attitude with elevated, sculpted forms disrupted by undone textures and unexpected placement.
Thank you @alixhiggins & @xnorkpowka for always trust me even there were so many DMs of the mannequin head tests. True privilege to work with @seanetc to complete the beauty direction.
Massive thank you for @ozdare & @kevin.murphy.australia KM salon stylists that worked on the hair team, you guys made the show! Thank you @sharkbeautyau for all the support and care.
Big love to @issei_s11 , @maiii_tsuchiya & @l2msy@usfinatelier for all the hair practice and support!
Welcome to GAN METHOD — a series exploring our foundational cutting and colouring techniques.
In this design, we create layers before defining the perimeter using our signature dry cutting approach. The hair is sectioned with a vertical guide from ear to ear and a horizontal parting above the ear.
The bottom section is then elevated perpendicular to the head and cut using a deep point-cutting technique. This creates a soft internal layer that removes excess weight, softens the overall shape, and avoids a harsh, blunt perimeter. It also streamlines the process, eliminating the need to cut a blunt shape first and then return to texturise for softness and movement.
