Six years ago, @misterjoelperez and @benjaminvelezmusic came to me with a really wild idea: to reimagine my 2007 novel “Lost City Radio” as a musical. Frankly, I thought they were both crazy. Charming, passionate, but crazy. Now, it’s 2026, and here we are: these two brilliant, beautiful and talented artists have done something really special. I have no idea how musicals get made, or what happens next, but Joel and Benjamin and all the talented people who made yesterday’s performance a reality have already given me a tremendous gift, one that I’ll never forget. I’m so grateful and proud. 🥹
