@danieleskils grew up in a Stockholm suburb, raised on a steady diet of Bond films and cinematic classics. After studying journalism and graphic design, his career took him to New York and Rio (yes, he can dance samba) before returning to Stockholm.
Known for his curiosity and fast-moving process, @danieleskils is conceptually very strong and crafts films that are visually clever, graphically sharp, and always full of heart.

Love conquers all. I did this board game as a wedding gift to @jazzinho & @jaelt . 20 characters, 100 questions and a journey from Jiasis kitchen sofa to the wedding @bambi_4_ever . It was a wedding from a Fellini or Roy Andersson movie. As a beautiful as life can ever be. I even ate the wedding cake with my bare hands to get into that feeling that life can be like in the movies or even better at times. Life should simply be about celebrating love everyday. ❤️

Kjell is a puppet show, technically—but not really. It’s set in a world that feels painfully close to our own. Real people, real problems. Gambling addiction, depression, unemployment, the quiet struggle of being human. The characters just happen to be made of foam.We made three seasons across nearly a decade—each one for a different Swedish broadcaster: ZTV in 2007, SVT in 2009, and finally TV4 in 2015. That alone probably says something about the strange and stubborn life this show has had.
I co-created Kjell with Björn Carlberg, who might be the funniest person I’ve ever met. He’s an incredible puppeteer and voice actor, with a huge following of his own. Making this series with him was pure joy. Katja Serrander, Joakim Tessert, Josephine Owe, Jacob Eklund, Carl Sander and Johan Junker among others has also been a huge part of Kjell.
Over time, Kjell built something of a cult following. People of all ages have found it online and kept it alive in ways we never expected. It’s deeply rooted in the place where I grew up—full of references, tone, and characters drawn from our own lifes.
Kjell, Peter and Birgitta aren’t just puppets anymore. They’ve become part of us.

During a lecture on Process and Storytelling that I held today I found these old BTS, sketch movies and drawings from 2008 when we did this film for Protest Boardwear with @kesselskramer@zmcd@mr.boonstra very fun shoot and everything in camera by DoP @eriksohlstrom and producer @johanjunker and set designer @oscarlson making TVs skate down the streets of Cape Town. Idea based on one simple storyboard image I drew and re-used and idea called HundTV we made for ZTV and built the idea from. Eskils Junker Film became @tarotpictures . Star and talent @zzebraan
