It’s kind of wild thinking back to how this all started.
In March 2025, Evan texted an old friend knowing we had the start of something great but needed help to get us to where we needed to be. Luke built our tracks, spending weeks layering synths and pianos as well as mapping everything out for both on stage and eventually a studio recording. Taking the next step to turn these stems into a record was not only challenging but extremely daunting.
Evan suggested we take Kieffer to this friend’s, so with Luke’s files and an assortment of drums and cymbals, they traveled to this beautiful, refurbished schoolhouse studio led by producer Daniel Blake. That’s where this journey really began.
What started as “let’s just track drums” turned into something so much bigger. Over the course of several sessions the whole band joined in. Guitars, vocals, long days, longer nights… and suddenly these songs weren’t just ideas anymore. They were real.
Dan helped guide the entire process in a way I don’t think I can even put into words after many months of working on these songs, that part of the story is finished.
We’ve created an EP of 8 anime openings and insert songs that shaped Western otaku culture while we were growing up. Songs that shaped every part of Anime Night, our band, and how this culture is consumed and adapted in the West.
Individually, they’re nostalgic, but together they tell a bigger story.
They tell a story about how these stories made their way across the Pacific and found a new home here. We all grew up experiencing them in our own way and that’s what this is about.
We’ll be sharing the title and full tracklist on Monday. I’m wondering if anyone can figure it out early based on this post… If you guess the title right, we’ll send you the full EP a month before it drops! 😳
Hint:
It’s named after a really special episode from one of our favorite series — one that imagines a world beyond its own, separated by the ocean.
