Sea legs are slowly coming back after 8 months off my board due to tearing my ACL. Every day I’m pushing myself just a little bit. I’ve been skating just about every day for the last week and it feels good to do what I love again. Injury Backstory: I hurt my knee back in August while I was in Cost Rica. Once we did MRIs and got in there it turns out both of my ACLs and Meniscus’s were torn. My left knee only had an 80% tear in the ACL so stem cells were a viable treatment for that. Then usually stem cells can heal meniscal tears so we went ahead and solved that issue as well by injecting each meniscus with stem cells. We also treated both torn MCLs, both my laxxed LCLs and some of my muscle/tendon tissue that had begun to develop osteophytes(bone spurs). The problem is my right ACL was fully torn which Dr Ghattas told me ahead of time that stem cells wouldn’t heal it as there was zero connectivity. I opted to go through heavy PT and strength training to stabilize the joint as a whole and treat everything we could with stem cells. 8 months later and here we are! For now I’m skating but I may need surgery and stem cells in the future on my right knee. We shall see! Thank you @docregen for the stem cells. Thank you @hargravechiro for hyperbarics and pt. Thank you @rubikon_therapy for helping me with physical therapy and strength training. Seeing my griptape and sweating makes me happy af regardless of what level I’m at currently.
