@arathejay real name Samuel Ofei Ankrah, is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and producer. He’s part of the new wave of 🇬🇭 Ghanaian artists blending highlife, afrobeats, R&B, and alternative sounds — often called the “Afro-Highlife” or “Alte” scene. He’s known for his smooth vocals, storytelling, and a spiritual, introspective edge to his music.
He broke out with tracks like Sankofa and Chosen in 2023, and really caught attention with his 2023 EP Finding Nimo: The Capsule. His sound mixes traditional Ghanaian rhythms with modern production and often touches on identity, heritage, and self-discovery.
New music rollout: In early 2026 he dropped “Jesus Christ 2” with Black Sherif, which did huge numbers in Ghana and Nigeria. It’s a sequel to his 2023 Jesus Christ and continues his mix of gospel references, street storytelling, and highlife guitar.
Album mode: He’s been teasing his debut album “Avant Garden” throughout 2025/2026. He described it as “a garden of sounds” exploring African spirituality, growth and rebellion. No confirmed release date yet, but he’s released 3 singles from it so far.
Live shows & touring: After his sold-out “Finding Nimo Experience” in Accra in Dec 2024, he’s been doing the festival circuit. He played Afro Nation Portugal 2025, and in March 2026 he was on the “Ghana to the World” tour with King Promise and Moliy in Europe.
Production work: He still produces for himself and others. He co-produced tracks on the “Sound of Africa Vol. 2” compilation in late 2025 and has been credited on work for Gyakie and Baaba J.
Brand + fashion: He launched a limited merch line tied to Avant Garden called “Nimo’s Closet” — mostly upcycled pieces and tie-dye with Adinkra symbols. He’s said he wants to push Ghanaian design the same way he pushes the sound.
Style & vibe: Think Amaarae meets Omah Lay meets Ebo Taylor. Spiritual but street, soft but raw. If you’re into artists redefining what Ghanaian music sounds like globally, he’s one to watch.
