👆 Since this is a technique video, I want to address one of the comments that comes up all the time which is:
“Yeah, yeah, technique. But that only works if you’re super strong.”
Or:
“You have all these people who are strong and they’re just kind of masking that by saying it’s a technique thing.”
Yeah. Fair. But at the same time, no matter how strong you are, there’s always more you can get out of it with technique.
➡️ It may seem at first like you’re not getting the traction that you want and you just need to be stronger. But, I can’t emphasize enough the merit of assuming that you’re strong enough to do these moves.
***And with that in mind, think to yourself: “If I’m strong enough to do this, what am I missing?”***
That opens up so many doors and allows much faster learning than you would get really any other way.
So anyways, I see the argument, but I invite you to try this method and I think that you’ll see a lot of benefit with it. 🤝
We had the opportunity this time to actually go out to Hueco Tanks ourselves and U.S Olympian Jesse Grupper and I climbed the boulders that were submitted to us.
By walking through this checklist of cues, it will hopefully give you a really clear, real world opportunity to see how you can use these methods to improve your own climbing, but also the things that you can look for to get the most out of any footage that you might take and change a library of falls into valuable learning opportunities.

"SENDING is a narrative exploration of the fulfillment I find bouldering in California. Waking early after late night drives through darkness, we share beautifully sunlit mountain wanderings of psychedelic-like natural highs that are eventually brought back to earth by climbing's sharply humbling crux of patience and perseverance. It’s an inspiring cycle that leads to the majestic summit of reward - Sending the Project - with the embrace of friendship supporting from below and celebration around the fire, under the stars in the moonlit glow." - @carlosmason

Still alive!
The last few months have been rather more character building than instaworthy, but I’ve been enjoying my time in boulder, reconnecting with old friends and spending the summer in the mountains.
Hope everyone is doing well :)
Not the craziest thing ever, but happy to be getting this thing dialed in again. I made this system 7 or 8 years ago as a shoulder strength and tension trainer. Since then, I’ve done everything from campusing it to 4x4s. But being able to do it again comfortably is a good indicator that the shoulders are finally getting healthy and back on track! Hoping to be trying hard again soon and back to 100% by the fall!
Quick stop in Roy on the way back to the west coast.
Definitely going to have to spend more time exploring this place at some point. Friendly locals and incredible boulders. Can’t ask for much more than that!!
