I'm proud to announce that Cap and Trade, the cyberpunk thriller I wrote and produced is now in the semi-finals for the Independent short film festival.
It's been a long journey, from having published my first novel in 2023, which was a satirical and a potentially career-ending move given the subject matter, to writing this script over one hazy summer, to scouting locations, gathering a crew, casting calls and hiring actors, to squeezing in principle photography in one weekend, to CGI and audio and soundtrack and the many, many hours in the editing room.
And here we are. Years of writing stories. Years of elbow grease and self-doubt. With only one weekend and $7,000 of my own money, Cap and Trade is making rounds in the film festival circuit. With another short film and novel on the way, a pipe dream is now becoming reality.
