Today is a National Day of Solidarity for First Nations Justice. ❤️🖤💛
A friend of mine who is a proud strong Aboriginal woman, asked that I, and my friends and family, post an acknowledgment of the First Nations people of Australia, the Country you’re on, including their ancestors.
She said this is an opportunity for non Aboriginal family to show their solidarity and commitment to healing our Nation, together with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander colours. 💙💚⚪️🖤
She also asked me to acknowledge my ethnicity and ancestors too. This is a powerful practice of coming into country- acknowledging your own ancestry and something that other Aboriginal elders have taught me.
I wrote and recorded this song in 2005 as a way to open all my gigs. It draws on my ancestral traditions of A’Capella singing as well as creating an acknowledgment of Country and coming into Country the right way- with respect to the traditional custodians and their ancestors.
I stand in solidarity with the First Nations people in my life, my family, friends and loved ones, in my community and all of this nation.
There is more truth-telling, treaties and justice to come. I believe that something even better is coming. 🙏🏽❤️

Meet Kate aka Frank Lee Madir on the latest episode of The Kings of Joy Show.👑
Sometimes you think you have already explored gender, and then you realise the options you were given were still incredibly narrow.
Not because you lacked imagination, but because the world around you kept handing you the same uniform.
What parts of you have not had enough room yet?
This season of The Kings of Joy Show is recorded and produced at Bambuddha Studios in Sydney. Thank you for supporting independent queer creators and community storytelling. 🙏💖

Meet Kaitlyn aka Maggot Banks on the latest episode of The Kings of Joy Show. 👑
Kaitlyn speaks so beautifully here about gender as something you can actually play with, not just obey. And what can open up when you start exploring masculinity on your own terms.🎉
What might shift for you if gender felt more like permission than pressure?

Meet Jo aka Bad Boy Cameo on the latest episode of The Kings of Joy Show.
Sometimes becoming a Drag King also means finally giving yourself permission to be ridiculous, iconic, and completely committed to the bit.
What performance fantasy have you been quietly carrying around for years?

“Magic… because you’re doing your first time with other people doing their first time.”
There’s something about not having to be the only beginner.
Same nerves. Same curiosity. Same quiet voice asking, what if?
And suddenly… it’s not so scary to explore the masculinity that’s already inside you.
Have you ever wished you could try this without doing it alone?

Backstage. The space where you gather your costume, music, face, your support team (hello @alishirley 🥰) and both parts of yourself. @dariodoesdrag
What a dream to be the first Drag King that many of the 200+ audience had seen. 👑😘
Thank you @sevensistersfestival for the gift that keeps on giving. Love and appreciate you 🙏💖

“It’s very simple. Do it. Just do it.”
Danielle Cormack is a multi-award-winning actor with 35 years of professional performance experience.
And her advice to aspiring Drag Kings is the same advice you’ve heard a thousand times before - but this time it might actually land.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Tap into the community. Just do it.
What’s stopping you from starting?

I’m thrilled to be performing at Seven Sisters Festival this March 19–22 in Glenaroua, VIC, and it feels especially meaningful.
After 15 incredible years, this beautiful gathering is coming to a close. I taught Queer Tantra here for 6 of those years. It’s a rare chance to be part of the final chapter of a festival that has held so much magic, music, and connection.
If you’ve ever felt the call, this is the moment, to grab last tickets.
I’d love to share this with you 💖👑 @sevensistersfestival
“Make those bodies sing. Make those bodies sing.” 🎶
We didn’t even rehearse that. We just knew.
That’s what happens when you’ve been performing as a Drag King for five years — the rhythm becomes instinct. The persona becomes part of you.
In this episode, Becks aka Jim Junkie takes us through the banana-themed chaos, the gym bro vulnerability, and how a loveable TAFE student with 200 Instagram followers became one of Sydney’s most beloved Drag Kings.
What’s the thing you do that no one taught you - you just knew?

Last week, we lost Leesh - Dustin le Rugrat.
She was Kings of Joy's Community Champion long before I formally named her that. She drove 3.5 hours from Bateman's Bay for every Drag Kingdom show. She mastered choreography remotely across 8 All Stars groups. She encouraged first-timers with "You got this" when they were nervous.
She showed me what belonging looks like - even when it stretched her comfort zone. Especially then.
This morning I wrote about who she was, what she gave, and how we're honouring her.
Link in bio.
Rest easy, Leesh. We've got this. 👑
