Jake Danger

On July 7th 2023 I pulled into Suva, Fiji en route to Sydney, Australia to commission the USS CANBERRA. When I turned my phone on I had dozens of text messages all asking if I was willing to go to USS MAKIN ISLAND for 3-6 months to help out until a full time DC Senior Chief could get orders. I agreed, and much to my surprise on July 9th I was told "Congratulations on your orders to USS MAKIN ISLAND" and on August 15th I started my 3 YEAR tour. Never in my 17 years have I been challenged like I have been over these past 3 years. The highs were high and the lows shook my confidence to its core. But I survived, and dare I say, thrived. But I can look back knowing I did the best I could and left it all on the field. That said it wasn't a solo effort.  This tour took a toll on my sweet wife @verrii_berrii , who, even still, remained my biggest cheerleader. I also wouldn't have survived without the little psychos working for me, and even though they're too young to remember 9/11 and use the whackiest slang ever, they worked their fucking asses off and usually did so with a smile. And finally, I'd be remiss without saying thank you to my favorite CMC of all time, my big sister @jrelly415 , nothing builds confidence like having people believe in you, especially when you might not think you deserve it.  Welp. It's been real MKI. GUNG HO.

I'm about a month late but I figured that getting my SDB jacket back from the tailor with a crispy new service stripe would be a fitting way to commemorate hitting 16 years.

I have made some REALLY questionable decisions in my life but marrying @verrii_berrii 4 years ago was not one of them, aside from the obvious reasons (tax benefits) getting to spend my life with her is a privilege unlike another. She's sweet (usually), pretty (always), and makes me laugh in ways no one else can. To know Laura is to love her, but to be loved by her fuckin RULES! I love you sweet thing! Here's to doing this every year until we die! (And I'm actually 2 days late because I was stuck in the ocean for awhile)

Another season down. Getting to contribute to the growth of these Sailors and Marines is what this job is all about. BZ Class 132, now get to work!

RIP Chase. The city will never feel the same.

A lot of things have changed since I married @verrii_berrii 3 years ago. Examples: 1. I don't smoke anymore 2. Laura has more tattoos 3. We have a dog But there are also some things that haven't changed: 1. She's still my best friend 2. I love her a whole lot 3. She pretty I can't wait for every October 18th from now until eternity.
