One of my favorite tones when recording last week. This rig is a 1955 strat into two small amps with 8 inch speakers… one is a field coil that’s burning itself up. Jens’s this crazy sound! Can anybody guess what the two amps were???
FUNNY GEAR > NICE GEAR!!
This was my first little project in my new apartment studio, and I’m so stoked to put these new pieces to the test! Always good to do more technical work and break out the soldering iron, especially when it’s for FREE! These speakers will be nice to check mixes through like you would through other one-way speakers like a set of Auratones. I SWEAR I’ll do a rundown of everything else in the room soon!

Shoutout @icombs for this trick that I wish I learned YEARS ago. Knotted cables effin’ suck and fixing them normally always feels like waste of time. DO THIS INSTEAD!! Happy to post more assistant-engineer related tips/tricks I use often to make the job easier if y’all would like?
