"It's surely our responsibility to do everything within our power to create a planet that provides a home not just for us, but for all life on Earth." – David Attenborough We can all be heroes in this world, by using our gifts to make a difference. "You’ve got to get out there, and you got to give it everything you got. Whether it's your time, your talent, your prayers, or your treasures. [...] So the question is: what are you going to do with what you have? And I’m not talking about how much you have. Some of you are business majors. Some of you are theologians, nurses, sociologist. Some of you have patience. Some have kindness. Some have love. Whatever it is… whatever your gift is, what are you going to do with what you have?" - Denzel Washington #dancingforrhinos #saveourrhinos #ourreason #myreason #rhinos #davidattenborough #denzelwashington

Today is Earth Day A day to pause… and to remember that this planet is not just where we live... it is what we are part of. Every river, every tree, and every animal… they are not separate from us. They are us. And change comes from small, conscious choices, made again and again, day by day. From choosing care over convenience, and protection over silence, and action over indifference. At Dancing for Rhinos, we see that impact every day... when awareness becomes protection, and when people choose to stand for something greater than themselves. Today is a reminder: We do not have to change the world all at once, but we can be part of the change that protects it... every single day... #EarthDay2026 #DancingForRhinos #Conservation #ProtectOurPlanet

At Easter we are reminded of renewal, of hope, and of new beginnings. In nature, every new life, every sunrise, every quiet moment of peace carries that same message… that even after the hardest times, life continues, heals, and grows. May this Easter bring you a sense of calm, purpose, and connection - to each other, and to the beautiful world we share. From all of us at Dancing for Rhinos, Happy Easter 🐣🦏🌿

There is something special about the South African R10 note. It carries the image of a rhino mother and her calf... a quiet reminder of what we still have, and what we stand to lose. Every day, this note passes through many hands, and it is used without a second thought. But what if, just once a month, it stood for something more? What if R10 became a choice? A choice to protect, a choice to care, and a choice to be part of something bigger. Through the Rhino Circle of Care, that same R10 becomes more than a note. It becomes: time in the sky, care on the ground, and protection where it matters most. Small in value, and powerful in purpose. Our Rhino Circle of Care Join us here: /ykn83jt6

Today my heart is very full. Thandi, our Special Star, has become a mother again. I still remember the day of the poaching attack in 2012... It was the moment that set me on this path and eventually led to the creation of Dancing for Rhinos. And every time she brings new life into the world it reminds us that resilience is real, that protection matters, and that hope is stronger than cruelty, and watching her walk with her tiny calf beside her is a quiet miracle. Congratulations, our Special Star, congratulations and thank you to the amazing Kariega Game Reserve and Kariega Foundation team! Thank you for protecting our girl and her family, and for letting us be a part of this special journey. Welcome to the world, little one. Your mother has changed the world, she is a hero, and you are already part of a very special legacy. ❤️🌟🦏🦏❤️💚 Video Credit: James Doddington and @kariega.game.reserve 🙏

There are moments in life that change everything. I still remember my sister's phone call. The shock, her despair, the disbelief. The images of a these beautiful rhinos, left for dead. That day, 14 years ago, on the 2nd March 2012, my life changed... forever. Thandi did not just survive the poaching. She survived against all odds through unbearable pain, through uncertainty, through the long nights where nobody knew if she would make it. And I watched what humans are capable of when they choose love over despair. I watched Dr William Fowlds fight for her life with skill and compassion that went way beyond medicine. I watched the team at Kariega Game Reserve stand guard, day and night, protecting her fragile body while she healed. And I watched Anti-Poaching Unit members and K9 handlers continue that protection... not for headlines, not for praise, but because they feel this being their duty and purpose. And me... ? Thandi became more than a rhino to me. She became my teacher. She showed me that survival is not loud. It is quiet determination. It is getting up again, and again, and once more... even when the world has been cruel. She gave birth, and with it she gave life, and she proved that evil does not get the final word. Because of Thandi, Dancing for Rhinos was born, and because of Thandi, my life found its purpose. Today I do remember the violence... It keeps me grounded and rooted in my purpose, but... I also remember the miracle, the miracle of Thandi, what she stands for and how she changed the lives of so many people around the world. And today I bow my head in gratitude - to the soft hearts and strong hands that helped her heal, to the team at her home who loves and supports her, to the boots on the ground and the eyes in the sky that guard her, to her spirit that still walks the bush with dignity, and to the hearts that carry her story forward. Thandi, you changed my life. And through our team, and all those who were touched by your courage, your spirit continues to move. "You're my reason you're my strength I'll always be your voice We will dance We'll be that change Forever in your name."

Connection changes behaviour. When we feel connected to nature, we protect it. When we feel connected to people, we stand stronger together, and when we feel connected to a purpose, we act differently. Conservation is not only about strategy; it is about relationship. At Dancing for Rhinos, we believe protection begins with connection... through music, education, technology, and community. You protect what you love. And you love what you feel connected to. 🤍🌍🦏 #Connection #Conservation #RhinoProtection #Purpose #myreason Photo Credit: Daniel Haesslich

Today I found myself thinking about why we chose prevention over reaction. Prevention is not always visible. It does not make headlines... but it does one thing... it creates safety - quietly and consistently. This is where our hearts are. Thank you to those who make it happen - every single night...

They instinctively know… The change in their handler’s voice, the call over the radio, the shift in energy as their human walks toward their "bakkie"... They run! Then they jump onto the back, hearts pounding, on high alert - ready to protect with everything they have, even when they are retired. These are our K9 Anti-Poaching Dogs, and this is Cyrus. They are not just trained... they are loyal, they are brave, and they are family... And they stand between a rhino and a bullet. Cyrus is 11 years old today. Happy Birthday, beautiful boy! 🐕💚🐕🦏❤️ He and his buddies need us. A small monthly donation towards their food helps keep them strong, focused, and ready - every single day. If you would like to support the dogs who never hesitate to protect our wildlife, your monthly gift will go directly toward feeding the heroes on the front line. https://dancingforrhinos.co.za/store/category/donations

As this year comes to a close, we pause... not to summarise, but to acknowledge... Conservation asks for patience, courage, and the willingness to keep going, even when the outcomes are uncertain. What carried us through this year were people. People who gave their time, skills, trust, and their hearts. People who chose to care, quietly and consistently. To every supporter, participant, honorary patron, donor, partner, ranger, artist, supplier and friend: thank you for walking this path with us. As we step into 2026, we do so with resolve rather than expectation, always committed to listening, learning, and acting, one project, one step, and one life at a time. With deep gratitude, Your Dancing for Rhinos Team #DancingForRhinos #Gratitude #ConservationInAction #LookingAhead #MyReason #OurReason
