Sleepy’s expertise spans editing, artwork, and camera work, enhancing the visual representation of dance. His influence extends beyond Ghana; he has supported dance initiatives in South Africa, Benin, Togo, and Nigeria, playing a crucial role in the broader African dance landscape.
Recognized for his dedication, Sleepy has been instrumental in developing the Ghana Dance Industry Awards and remains committed to promoting and assisting dancers through various services, from event organization to visual branding. The Ghana Dance Association (GDA) is a leading organization dedicated to transforming the dance industry and empowering the future of dance in Ghana. Established over 30 years ago, GDA has made significant strides in preserving and promoting the nation's rich dance heritage. It currently serves over 200,000 dancers and 50,000 active students, boasting an impressive success rate of 98%.
With a commitment to cultural exchange and innovation, GDA offers expert instruction in 25 diverse dance styles, ranging from traditional forms like Adowa and Kpanlogo to contemporary styles. The association emphasizes community building, excellence, and the preservation of Ghanaian dance history.
Through extensive outreach programs, including nationwide dance education initiatives, GDA has impacted all 16 regions of Ghana, fostering inclusivity and connection through the power of dance. The association has garnered international recognition, receiving UNESCO acknowledgment for its efforts in preserving intangible cultural heritage.
Under recent administration, the Ghana Dance Association has also celebrated notable achievements in various competitions, including winning the Luton Carnival in the UK in 2014/2015 and securing 2nd and 3rd positions at the Calabar International Cultural Carnival in 2017/2018 and 2019, respectively.
