Cheryl Carson is an accomplished performer, choreographer, and dance educator whose career spans the concert stage, classroom, and screen. A graduate of the University of the Arts with a BFA in Dance Education, she has performed in regional musical theater productions including Cabaret, Oklahoma!, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and NINE, and has been featured in independent films and television, including Forensic Files.
Cheryl has danced with several Philadelphia-based companies, among them The Bald Mermaids, Winged Woman Dance Company, and Pittsburgh’s Junction Dance Theatre, performing at major venues such as the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Painted Bride Art Center, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Her choreography has been showcased at the Koresh Artist Showcase, GLUE Performance Series, and Kimmel Center Solstice Celebration, reflecting her signature blend of modern and jazz technique with theatrical flair.
An inspiring and dedicated educator, Cheryl taught for more than a decade at the Koresh School of Dance, where she founded the award-winning Koresh Children’s Studio and served as company manager. She has also taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Friends Select School, and numerous studios and festivals across the country, nurturing students of all ages through an encouraging, expressive approach to dance.
Cheryl brings the same creativity, collaboration, and joy that defined her artistic career to her work in the nonprofit sector as Director of Advancement at Smith Memorial Playground and Playhouse, where she continues to champion access to the arts, play, and community for children and families. She serves on the Board of Directors for The Liv Project and the Leadership Fund Committee for The Valentine Foundation and has served as a panelist for National Endowment for the Arts, Philadelphia Cultural Fund and PA Council on the Arts.
