Not many people realize that she has seven kids. There's the six of us. Then there's her school, MECAP, and all the teachers, non teaching staff, and students who were ever part of the 25 year old school. Happy Mothers Day, Ma.

Sometime last year, they asked me to photograph the very first store they ever put up in the Philippines. Store number 1! I had a very specific assignment for this store. Take a photo of the Siren artwork. It would later be featured (along with 7 of my other photos of sirens over the years) in the 2026 traditions planner. If you have been to the 6750 Ayala Starbucks store, you probably know it's a bit more cramped than the newer stores they put up. There's a lot of features of that store in that small space that I wanted to show. - the big post with photographs of baristas throughout the years, the chandelier, the huge merchandise shelf, the stairs going to the second floor. I wanted to show all those in one photo. But I had so little space to work with, and I didn't want to use my 11mm because it would make the place look unnaturally big, aside from the distortions it usually brings. So I set my tripod to a height much taller than I am, positioned it the corner against the glass panels (and I am thankful for my camera's articulated screen) and did a 15 image exposure-blended composite. And this is how it came out. And the biggest compliment I got was someone in charge of building all the new stores said "I didn't think this store could look this good photographed" - because it was an old store. Their oldest, actually. On another note, the very first Starbucks store I photographed happened 10 years ago today. TEN YEARS! ©dennisdancel 2025 #starbucksph #siren #architectualphotography #interiorphotography #composite

Google photos reminded me that I took this photo 16 years ago today. I was in the poolside of a hotel in Manila Bay when I took this shot using my good old Canon 40D with a 70-200mm lens attached to it. I saw the setting sun, set the camera to ISO 100 f4 1/200, pointed my camera and took a few shots. And my thought then was that I wished the ship was somewhere on the other side of the frame to give the image some balance. I didn't even realize what I took until I was editing it. If you zoom in, that's the Mt Samat Cross in Bataan, framed by the setting sun. They say you will have to take this shot at the right place, and at the right time of the year to frame the cross this way. ©dennisdancel 2010 #sunset #frame #silhouette #crucifix #timing

I saw this bird in a fruit stand in Sta Fe, Nueva Vizcaya, on my recent trip back to Manila. At first I thought it was a Sunbird, but I had my doubts since it was slightly bigger than a sunbird, and the colors were different. Google lens said it was a Philippine bulbul. When I posted it on the Birdwatch Philippines Community on Facebook, most of them said it was a buzzing flowerpecker. Upon checking Google, I think they identified it correctly. It was my first time to see one. "The buzzing flowerpecker or white-bellied flowerpecker is a species of bird in the family Dicaeidae. It is endemic to the Philippines. Its natural habitats are tropical moist lowland forest and or tropical moist montane forest." ©dennisdancel 2026 #birds #nature #birdwatching #bird #birdphotography

The calendar says it's a Friday. The dining table concurs. This is a very common sight in Filipino dining tables on Fridays, specially during the lenten season where fasting and abstinence is observe by Catholics. ©dennisdancel 2026 #food #mobilephotography #monggo #alukon #daing
