So about 5 years ago I suddenly just stopped posting on my dancehallsteps page. I never really gave an explanation, but when I got to do an interview on the radio about it, I realized how sensitive this subject is to me.
I stopped posting because the negative comments, the different demands and opinions were starting to get to me. It became very draining. The dancehall dance scene can be fun, but also very BRUTAL. That’s why I decided to take 10 steps back from the scene.
I love dancehall, the culture, the music and the people. The love that I feel for dancehall never stopped btw, it just took on another form. Which is why I started DJ’ing. I DJ for about 2,5 years now and I play a good amount of dancehall music in my sets. As I am progressing in my DJ carreer tho, I realize that my story with dancehall also has a chapter of pain and shame.
As I am concidering to slowly get back to posting on dancehallsteps again (probably in a different format), I hope we can show more love to eachother and communicate properly like the adults that we are❤️🙏🏽
